PTC Web Desk: A pall of gloom descended on Raikot in Punjab's Ludhiana district after a youth from the village died of a heart attack in Canada. The deceased has been identified as Jaswinder Singh Tona.

His family back home have urged those residing in Canada to help send their son's body back home. Notably, Jaswinder Singh Tona a resident of Seeloaani village in Raikot of Ludhiana district, had moved to Canada on January 27, 2019, with a work permit for Brampton. He was currently living in Abbotsford with four friends.

On August 27, he informed his family that he was feeling unwell. Prior to this, he had performed 'sewa'  at Gurdwara Banda Bahadur in Abbotsford until 10:30 pm. The next morning around 6 am, he told his friends that he was feeling pain in his chest, and by the time they took him to hospital, he had died.

His brother-in-law Manpreet Singh Chak Kalan said Jaswinder Singh had been unemployed for some time, which led him into depression. He also remained under treatment at a hospital in Vancouver for some time.

Jaswinder Singh is survived by his parents and four sisters. He was the only earning member of the family.
