Plea Filed in HC for CBI probe into 60% failed DAP fertiliser samples in Punjab
PTC Web Desk: A petition has been filed in the Punjab and Haryana High Court seeking a CBI investigation into the issue of 60 per cent failed samples of DAP (Di-Ammonium Phosphate) fertiliser in Punjab. The petition, filed by Satnam Singh from Patiala, highlighted that a significant portion of DAP samples in the state did not meet the required standards, particularly in terms of phosphorus content.
The case first came to light in Mohali, with reports indicating that 60% of the 22,000 metric tonne of DAP allocated to Punjab in March and April failed quality tests. These failed samples contained significantly lower levels of phosphorus than the prescribed standards.
Despite the Punjab Chief Minister ordering strict action, there has been no clear update regarding any steps taken so far. Allegations of complicity by government officials in the matter have further complicated the issue.
In response to the petition, the Punjab and Haryana High Court has issued notices to the Punjab Government and the CBI, seeking their response on the matter. The petitioner has called for a thorough CBI investigation into the entire issue to ensure transparency and accountability.
