Punjab: 100-year-old building collapses in Ludhiana; woman and child injured | Watch Video
PTC Web Desk: A 100-year-old five-story building in Ludhiana's Bandia Mohalla collapsed on Tuesday, leaving a woman and a child injured. The building had been in a dilapidated condition for some time, with neighbours repeatedly requesting the owner to repair it. However, no action was taken.
Local resident Prince Kumar said the building had been in a dilapidated state for a long time. Despite numerous complaints, no repairs were made. As the building began to crumble on Tuesday, they rushed outside. His wife, Khushi Arora, and their 1.5-year-old son followed. Unfortunately, debris from the collapsing building fell on them. Khushi sustained a head injury from falling bricks, while the child also suffered minor injuries. Both were immediately rushed to a private hospital.
The collapse also damaged Prince's house, breaking a wall and causing debris to flood their home. The building's owner has been informed about the incident.
Local residents said unusual movements were noticed in the building last night, and it ultimately collapsed during the day. Despite multiple warnings to the building owners, no steps were taken to repair the structure.
