Security forces shoot down drone carrying heroin, pistol in Punjab's Ferozepur
PTC News Desk: The Border Security Force (BSF) shot down a drone carrying drugs and a weapon from across the border in Ferozepur, Punjab.
The BSF said on Saturday that it found 500 grams of heroin, a pistol, and a magazine from the drone.
According to sources, the BSF recovered 13 kg of suspected heroin in Punjab's Tarn Taran Border District on Thursday.
In a post on X, the BSF Punjab Frontier stated, "This recovery has dealt a significant blow to trans-border criminals attempting to smuggle heroin into India from the Pakistan border."
On the same day, BSF personnel, along with Tarn Taran police, undertook a search operation and found an improvised and assembled Pakistani drone.
"During the afternoon hours, the search party recovered an improvised and assembled Pakistani drone from Naushera Dhalla village in Tarn Taran district," the BSF said in a statement.
The BSF stated, "This recovery is significant as it highlights the innovative methods used by Pakistani smugglers. Countering the use of such assembled drones is a crucial step in curbing smuggling activities."
On October 7, the BSF found around 560 grammes of suspected heroin in a plastic container in Ratankhurd village, Amritsar district, Punjab, according to officials.
According to a BSF press release, personnel noticed a suspicious container while inspecting harvesting operations near the Amritsar border security fence. The plastic container was wrapped in yellow adhesive tape and had an iron wire hook attached. Inside, heroin was found, according to the press announcement.
