Transport tender scam: VB arrests Ludhiana Councillor’s husband Anil Jain

Ludhiana, November 4: Vigilance team investigating the transport tender scam in Punjab has arrested Anil Jain, a close associate of former minister Bharat Bhushan Ashu and husband of Women Congress Councillor, from village Dhothar. It is being told that the vigilance received information that Anil Jain is hiding in his shed located on Dhothar Road.

Vigilance had laid a full proof plan to nab the accused, first the local police in civil clothes went to the spot for inspection.. Meanwhile, vigilance officials also reached the spot. After a lot of struggle, the vigilance officials managed to reach Anil Jain. According to received information, Anil Jain was brought to Ludhiana Vigilance Office late at night. Ludhiana Vigilance SSP Ravinderpal Singh Sandhu has not yet confirmed anything in this matter. According to sources, the raid team was led by DSP Ashwani Kumar.

The Vigilance Bureau has already named two commission agents (aarthis) including Anil Jain, husband of Congress councilor Rupali Jain and Mahaveer Bansal, brother of Mullanpur Dakha Municipal Council president Telu Ram Bansal, in the scam.

It is being told that the accused are guilty of bringing grain from Uttar Pradesh and Bihar at a cheap price and selling it at a high price in Punjab.  Anil Jain had earlier filed a bail plea in this case but the court rejected it.

In the investigation so far, it has been revealed that Anil Jain is being accused of being a commission agent. However he was allotted his own shelters for grain storage. The complainant has also alleged in his statements that both were involved in fraudulent billing of food grains smuggled from other states but these allegations are still being investigated.
