Punjab and Sind Bank enters in league by defeating CAG Delhi by 5-1
Punjab and Sind Bank defeated CAG Delhi by 5-1 in the 36th Indian Oil Servo Surjit Hockey Tournament at Olympian Surjit Hockey Stadium, Jalandhar on Friday. In another match, Punjab National Bank Delhi beat Indian Air Force Delhi by a solitary goal to enter the next round of the knock out stage. Earlier Cabinet Minister Punjab Vijay Inder Singla inaugurated the tournament. Parqat Singh MLA presided over the inaugural function.
In the inaugural match, Punjab and Sind Bank dominated the proceeding from the start but not able to capitalize. In the 15th minute of the first quarter, CAG’s Imran Khan (Jr) netted the ball to get lead (1-0). Earlier in the first match, the Indian Air Force gave a tough fight to Punjab National Bank but Bank’s Goalkeeper Jasbeer Singh made some good saves. For Bank solitary goal scored by Vishal Antil in the 26th minute of the play with penalty corner conversion (1-0).
