Punjab Anganwadi workers hold a protest in support of their demands

Bathinda: On the call of All Punjab Anganwadi Employees Union State Committee and State President Hargobind Kaur, protests were held across Punjab regarding the demands of Anganwadi workers and helpers. Anganwadi workers protested against the Punjab government in Bathinda. On this occasion, the leaders said that the ICDS scheme was launched on 2 October 1975. 28 lakh workers and helpers are working under this scheme. Who have been working for 47 years. The central government is giving only Rs 4500 to the worker and Rs 2250 to the helper. In this too, the central government is contributing only 60 percent while the remaining 40 percent is given by the state governments. The helper should be given the rank of fourth grade employee. Allowance of 24 thousand rupees to workers and 18 thousand rupees to helpers should be given. Buildings of Anganwadi Centers should be constructed with modern facilities.   The protesters said that the children aged 3 to 6 years from Anganwadi centers who were taken away by the government in 2017 and sent to government primary schools should be sent back to the centers. Thousands of posts of Anganwadi workers and helpers lying vacant for the last 4 years should be immediately recruited.
