Speculation is rife about the possibility of Arvind Kejriwal announcing the AAP's chief ministerial candidate.
Earlier on August 1, Arvind Kejriwal had held a meeting with AAP MLAs and prominent party leaders of Punjab in the run-up to the Punjab Assembly elections 2022. After the meeting, Arvind Kejriwal declared that the AAP's chief ministerial candidate would be announced soon.
According to sources, many AAP MLAs demanded that the CM face of the party for the Assembly elections should be declared. Reacting to this, Arvind Kejriwal assured them, saying, "We will announce it soon."

It is being speculated that Arvind Kejriwal is vising Punjab following the recent turmoil in the Punjab Congress, wherein Captain Amarinder Singh was forced to step down as the Chief Minister of Punjab. The Congress high command appointed Charanjit Singh Channi as the new Punjab Chief Minister.
With the AAP, too, gaining the ground in Punjab, party leaders are hopeful of winning the next Assembly elections and form a government amid infighting in the Congress.
