Punjab Bandh Chakka Jam: Life virtually came to a standstill in Punjab on Friday. The state wore a deserted look following protests by farmers against the three farm bills that were passed in the Lok Sabha and Raya Sabha during the monsoon session of the Parliament.
Apart from the shopkeepers, the bandh got tremendous support from workers, artists, businessmen and social, religious, institutions, clubs, panchayats and others.
Due to Punjab Bandh, the supply of milk, vegetables, etc. was affected in the urban areas of the state.
Ambulance got stuck for 15 minutes in traffic jam in Moga
Farmers jammed the village of Dagru on Moga-Ferozepur highway where no vehicles were allowed to pass since morning. An ambulance was stuck there for 15 minutes at around 12:30 pm.
A woman was being taken in the ambulance from Cheema village. She was seriously injured due to beheading for opposing the attempted rape. She was referred to Faridkot Guru Govind Singh Medical College from Civil Hospital, Moga.
Tractor set on fire in Barnala
Barnala: Shiromani Akali Dal workers staged a protest against the agricultural bills at village Dhanola in Barnala district on the Bathinda-Chandigarh highway.
A tractor was set on fire after which the fire brigade immediately rushed to the spot and controlled the fire.
