Punjab Budget session extended till March 4

Punjab Vidhan Sabha on Thursday extended its budget session 2020-2021 till March 4. Now, the budget will be presented in the Vidhan Sabha on February 28 and not February 25. It was decided in at Business Advisory Council meeting of the Vidhan Sabha. Earlier on Thursday, the budget session started with the House making obituary references to the prominent personalities, including eminent Punjabi writers Dalip Kaur Tiwana besides Jaswant Kanwal and singer Lachi Bawa. Meanwhile, the Assembly paid tributes to two persons who died in a religious procession at Tarn Taran and four children who died in a school van fire in Longowal. Shiromani Akali Dal MLAs had moved an adjournment motion on power tariff in the state. Power tariff has been increased from January 1. SAD MLAs stormed the Well of the House against the Speaker Rana KP Singh's decision not to accept their adjournment motion. Earlier, Shiromani Akali Dal led by senior leader Bikram Singh Majithia staged a protest against the hike in electricty bill and power scam. https://www.ptcnews.tv/punjab-budget-session-2020-2021-sad-protest-against-power-scams/ The SAD MLAs were sporting bulbs around their neck in an order to protest against the state government. Recently, SAD President Sukhbir Singh Badal slammed Punjab Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh for not keeping his promises that he made during the elections.
