Punjab by-polls: SAD writes to ECI to stop the entry of outsiders in Jalalabad constituency

Punjab by-polls: Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD), on Monday, wrote to the Chief Election Commissioner (ECI) requesting for an immediate ban on entry of outsiders in Jalalabad constituency. The party letter, signed by its leader Charanjit Singh Brar read, “We have received a complaint from village Tahliwala Jattan of Jalalabad Assembly constituency, where many outsiders are present in the village and they are alluring the voters by giving cash. We request you that ECI may kindly ensure that such kind of malpractices in the election process be immediately stopped, so that free and fair election may be carried out.” Also, Read | Assembly elections 2019: Voting begins in Punjab, Haryana, and Maharashtra Voting is on for 288 constituencies in Maharashtra, 90 in Haryana and four in Punjab. Voter turnout was recorded at 8.73% & 5.46% till 9 am in Haryana & Maharashtra respectively. Results will be declared on October 24. -PTC News
