Punjab CM Bhagwant Mann announces relief of Rs. 32 cr to compensate crop loss claims

Chandigarh: Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann has announced the release of Rs 32 crore compensation to farmers for damaged crops in Fazilka district. Notably,  in the year 2020, there was a heavy loss of crops in Fazilkan district, after which the farmers were demanding compensation.

CM Bhagwant Mann says that the previous Congress government had promised to issue compensation to the farmers, but the Congress government gave up on the farmers. After this announcement of the Chief Minister, the MLAs of Fazilka district have thanked CM Bhagwant Mann. MLA from Fazilka Narinderpal Singh Sawna said that the government has issued compensation for the damage caused to the crops of the people of Jalalabad, Fazilka and Balluana constituencies. He has said that out of 32 crores, the highest amount has been received by Balluana.

It may be mentioned that the farmers' crops were severely damaged due to the hail storm in the villages of Abohar 2 years ago. The farmers were disappointed due to the heavy damage that hailstorm caused to wheat crop, mustard crop, kinnu garden etc.
