Nawanshahr: A man, who passed away at the Banga civil hospital on Wednesday, had tested positive for coronavirus, the state government said. The deceased has been identified as Baldev Singh (70), a resident of Pathlawa village. Reportedly, he had recently travelled to Germany and Italy.
Village sealed
Meanwhile, the area around his village has been sealed up to a radius of 3-km. Likewise, his relatives and friends, whom he had been in contact with, are being quarantined. Similarly, Baldev Singh's house has been sealed since Wednesday.
Punjab shuts public transport
Punjab government has decided to shut down public transport including the government and private buses in the wake of coronavirus spread. Meanwhile, auto-rickshaws and taxis will also be unavailable.
Punjab’s no to gatherings of 21 or more
Earlier, the GoM has issued directions to Deputy Commissioners (DCs) to ensure that the gathering must not increase beyond 50 persons. However, it has now been reduced to 20. Taking precautionary measures, the Punjab Government also directed to close the schools, colleges, cinema halls, shopping malls in an order to prevent the spread of coronavirus.

Havoc of Coronavirus
The novel coronavirus has claimed 8,990 deaths with 220,994 confirmed cases reported across the globe so far. Earlier this month, the World Health Organisation had declared coronavirus as a global pandemic.
