Punjab elections 2022: Former minister Joginder Mann joins AAP

Mohali: With the Punjab Assembly elections 2022 nearing, former Punjab minister Joginder Singh Mann, who recently quit the Congress, joined the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) on Saturday. Joginder Singh Mann was Punjab's former Cabinet minister and three-time MLA. He joined the AAP after ending his 50-year-old association with the Congress. Currently, he was the chairman of Punjab Agro Industries Corp.

He is a leader from the Scheduled Caste community. However, he left the Congress over party's inaction in the post-matric SC scholarship scam and non-grant of district status to Phagwara. In a letter to Congress president Sonia Gandhi, the three-time MLA from Phagwara said he had a dream that he would die as a Congressman. "But with the Congress patronising the guilty of the post-matric scholarship scheme, my conscience doesn't allow me to stay here," he had said.
