Punjab: For CM Channi, private jet is an 'aam aadmi's ride'

Within a day of being sworn in as the Chief Minister of Punjab, Charanjit Singh Channi has invited the wrath of people, especially his opponents. At his maiden press conference as the Punjab CM on Monday, Charanjit Singh Channi played an emotional card of being an "aam aadmi" (common man). However, on Tuesday, he opted for a special chartered jet to reach Delhi from Chandigarh to meet party leaders. He was accompanied by his two deputies, Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa and OP Soni, and PCC chief Navjot Sidhu. Charanjit Singh Channi had gone to Delhi to meet senior Congress leaders to discuss the implementation of the 18-point agenda and hold talks on the new Cabinet. Also read | Bargari sacrilege case: Three dera men declared proclaimed offenders On Monday, Charanjit Singh Channi got emotional while addressing the media and said his government was a representative of the poor as he himself pulled a rickshaw in his early life.However, within 24 hours, the 'aam aadmi" chose to travel to Delhi from Chandigarh in a special chartered jet. Sharing a photo on his Twitter handle, Navjot Sidhu wrote, "In line of duty!!"  All Congress leaders can be seen posing in front of the chartered jet.
