Navjot Kaur, the daughter of Punjab and the first woman to win gold medal in Asian wrestling championship arrives at Sri Guru Ramdas International Airport, Amritsar today.
Upon arriving, she was warmly welcomed by the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee and representatives of the Shiromani Akali Dal at the airport.
What’s disappointing is that no representative from the Punjab Government was present to welcome the champion who made Punjab proud internationally. Navjot Kaur expressed extreme disappointment on the same.
Navjot Kaur, after arriving at the airport visited Sri Harmandir Sahib, Amritsar to thank the almighty and was then honored by the SGPC.
Navjot Kaur produced a dominating performance in the final of the women’s 65 kg freestyle category to clinch the gold medal in what was a day to remember for Indian wrestling at the Asian Wrestling Championships in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan. With Sakshi Malik winning the bronze medal in the 62 kg category, India’s medal tally stood at one gold, one silver and four bronze medals on Friday.
