Punjab Government issues clarification regarding construction activities in the state

The Punjab Government on Thursday issued a clarification regarding the construction activities in the state. In a clarification by the Department of Home Affairs and Justice, it is stated that all kinds of new constructions are allowed in rural areas without any restrictions.

It also added that in Urban areas, there is a restriction in the sense that only on-going projects can continue subject to the availability of workers at the site. It may accordingly be seen that there is no restriction on continuing/resuming work on the already on-going works including personal residential or commercial building, it added.

Earlier, there were some queries regarding the scope of permissible construction activities specifically whether it includes personal residential and commercial buildings.

Punjab Curfew Extended

Punjab Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh on Wednesday announced the extension of curfew/lockdown in the state for two weeks. On the directives of the chief minister, the State Home Department has issued detailed guidelines to allow the opening of shops in a staggered way on rotation, maintaining the uniform timings from 7 am to 11 am.

A Spokesperson said that during the period of the opening of shops, the common man would be allowed to go out to procure commodities strictly adhering to complete coronavirus prevention measures such as social distancing, use of sanitisers and masks etc.
