Punjab Govt heeds to demands of temporary teachers

In a major development, the Punjab Government has accepted the long-pending demands of temporary teachers, who have been protesting in front of the Punjab School Education Board (PSEB) building in Mohali, for the past 85 days. Three-five protesting teachers who had climbed atop the PSEB building have announced to come down. However, the protest outside the PSEB building would continue till the government makes the notification public. They are also demanding that their experience of three years in other institutions shall also be considered. Further, as per the notification issued, the Governor of Punjab has framed rules to amend the Punjab State Elementary Education (Pre Primary School Teachers) Group 'C' Service Rules, 2020. These rules may be called the Punjab State Elementary Education (Pre Primary School Teachers) Group 'C' Service (First Amendment) Rules, 2021. These shall come into force on and with effect from the date of their publication in the official gazette.
