Channi, while issuing instructions that only courses which are suitable for employment as per the needs of the present and future would run in the government institutes, said outdated courses would be closed. It was also decided to attach the performance of the technical education department staff with annual confidential reports (ACRs). The increment in pay and promotions would be based on their performance, he added. Channi said the deployment of staff in the technical education department would be restructured and rationalised. Apart from this, he said the practice of different cadres would end and there would be only one cadre in the department. He directed the heads of colleges to implement biometric attendance systems within a month and purchase required equipments as per government norms. The minister also directed the colleges to ensure 100 per cent admission and results, and fix responsibility of non- performers. PTI-
