Many government employees in Amritsar overjoyed when 'double salary' got credited to their bank account for October month. All the government departments including education were paid double the salary amount to most of its employees throughout the State. It was not a Diwali bonus or a Diwali gift.
It all happened because of a computer glitch.
District Treasury Officer, A K Maini, confirmed the development. He said that it happened not only in Amritsar but throughout Punjab. Employees thought that the Punjab government gave them a Diwali gift.

Mr. Maini sent the notice to all the heads of government offices that one salary would be taken back shortly. It happened due to some technical issue in the software of the government's treasury department.
