Punjab: Medical college faculty to get full earned leave credit for coronavirus period

Coronavirus Punjab: Taking cognisance of the exceptional commitment and hard work of the medical college faculty fighting against the coronavirus pandemic for the past more than one year, Punjab Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh on Monday announced full credit of earned leave in lieu of their canceled vacations.

The medical college faculty in Punjab have not been able to avail themselves of their summer and winter vacation during the coronavirus pandemic period and would have been deprived of this facility, Captain Amarinder Singh pointed out.

Coronavirus Punjab: For medical college faculty, Punjab CM Captain Amarinder Singh announced full credit of earned leave.

These faculty members need to be compensated for their service and sacrifice, he said, adding that the government had decided to give them full credit against their 30 days of annual earned leave period against their canceled vacation periods.

The Chief Minister, while reviewing the Covid situation virtually, also asked senior officials to explore other incentives for healthcare workers as a token of the state government’s appreciation.

Meanwhile, Punjab Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh ordered the extension of Covid restrictions in the state to June 15.

Even as he announced certain relaxations, including the opening of shops till 6 pm and private offices to function at 50 percent strength.
