Punjab Minister Aruna Chaudhary directs to close Anganwari Centres

Punjab News: Punjab Social Security, Women and Child Development Minister Aruna Chaudhary has directed that all Anganwari Centres in Punjab would be closed till further orders due to the sudden spike in coronavirus cases. Aruna Chaudhary termed the decision as safety measure for children amid rise in coronavirus cases in Punjab. She said that ration and other materials to children and other beneficiaries will continually be distributed door to door through Anganwari Workers and Helpers, so that nutritional support to our beneficiaries can’t be affected. She also instructed to follow all health protocols including wearing of masks, washing hands and maintaining social distancing. The Punjab Cabinet Minister said that the efforts were on war footing to save little ones from the jaws of this deadly virus. She also made it clear that Anganwari Workers and Helpers would be present in Anganwari Centres and conduct home visits for door to door distribution of supplementary nutrition program and other activities. While announcing that the Anganwari Centres in Punjab would be closed, Chaudhary said that workers and helpers will call in beneficiaries in a staggered manner and ensure that growth monitoring record is prepared within the timeline given by the department.
