Punjab receives 2.40 lakh Covishield doses for 45+ group
COVID-19 vaccination: Punjab received a fresh stock of 2.40 lakh doses of Covishield vaccine from the Central government for beneficiaries above the age of 45 years, healthcare, and frontline workers.
According to the health official, the fresh stock has been received directly from the Government of India.

It is pertinent to mention that the COVID-19 vaccination for the 18-44 age group remained halted at most government centers in Punjab due to the "shortage of vaccines".

The states are buying vaccines directly from manufacturing companies for 18-44 age groups.
Earlier on May 27, the state had received a supply of 1.14 lakh doses of Covaxin from Bharat Biotech for the beneficiaries of the 18-44 age group.
Serum Institute of India (SII) is likely to supply the next stock of 1.56 lakh doses of the Covishield vaccine to Punjab by June 11 from its order of 30 lakh doses for the 18-44 age group.
As of now, Punjab has received 4.29 lakh doses directly from SII against its order of 30 lakh vaccine doses.
An official said that they have written to SII to supply a tranche of doses before June 11 in an order to resume vaccination for 18-44 in some centers.
Meanwhile, another direct supply of 18,000 Covaxin doses from Bharat Biotech is expected by June 7.
