Punjab spurious liquor: ED to investigate 13 FIRs registered by Punjab Police
In a major development, the Enforcement Directorate (ED) Jalandhar has finally registered an Enforcement Case Information Report (ECIR) to investigate the illicit liquor mafia active in the state.
It may be recalled that on May 14, the Enforcement Directorate came into action after a fake liquor factory was detected in Gandhian village in Ghanour constituency of Patiala district. Narinjan Singh, Deputy Director, ED, had personally visited Patiala to collect the records.
He met SP Mandeep Singh Sidhu where the Punjab police did not cooperate with the ED and refused to provide the record.

The ED would look into about 13 cases in Patiala, Khanna, Mohali, Ludhiana, Tarn Taran, Batala, and Amritsar to track the money earned from those cases. The cases have been registered under the ECIR Punjab Money Laundering Act.
