Punjab : Students upset over the increase in Examination fee
Students who will be appearing in Classes X and XII examination this year are upset over the increase in examination fee.
Last year, the fee was Rs 1,050 whereas this year it has been enhanced to Rs 1,200.The biggest limitation is for Scheduled Caste and Backward Class students as they have no concession this year.
Earlier, SC/BC students had to pay only Rs 650 whereas this year the amount has almost doubled for them . Apart from it, examination charges for four practical subjects including physical education are also being levied on the students.
According to a teacher in government school, the software for levying examination fee does not have any provision of caste or category this time. Due to which, the exemption for SC/BC students has completely gone.
