Purchase school uniforms through school management committees: Dr Cheema urges CM
Former SAD Minister Daljeet Singh Cheema on Friday wrote a letter to Punjab Chief Minister, Captain Amarinder Singh urging him to allow purchase school uniforms through school management committees instead of central tenders.
He further wrote that the decision to purchase uniforms for school students through central tenders is not appropriate in any way. Purchasing uniforms through central tenders not only violates the instructions for the supply of the SSA scheme (now Samagra Sikhsha), but there will be unnecessary delays with this process.
He also explained that these uniforms were started under the old SSA scheme of the Central Government. According to the instructions of this scheme, the uniform purchase was done by the school head and the school management committee. Now the scheme of the central government has become part of the Samagra Education Scheme, which is delaying the process.
