Putin set to declare 'all-out war' on Ukraine on May 9: Reports
Russian Victory Day: Russian President Vladimir Putin could declare an "all-out war" on Ukraine "within days" to pacify the “outrage” felt by Russia's military over the failures of its attacks on Kiev and allow Moscow to launch a general mobilisation of the population, according to Russian sources and Western officials. Notably, Russia started the invasion of Ukraine on February 24 in what Putin called a "special military operation" to "demilitarise and de-nazify" Ukraine, barring the use of the word "war", with the expectation that it would be over in a few weeks. However, Russian military officials who are now frustrated with Moscow’s huge losses and that the invasion has now stretched, have called on the President to declare war which would allow a mass mobilisation of Russian troops and an escalation in the conflict. Army Chiefs are reportedly asking Putin to replace his "special military operation" tagline with a roar of all-out war. According to Britain's Defence Secretary Ben Wallace, Russian President Putin may use Russia's victory day parade on May 9 to declare the mass mobilisation of his reserves for a final push in Ukraine.
