Rains batter Himachal Pradesh: Manali cut off, 378 roads closed; 13 killed 13 people have died across Himachal Pradesh as continuous rains have triggered flash floods and landslides in the region. 3 people, including a girl, were swept away in Kullu by flash floods. The stranded were airlifted safely.  In Kangra, a 31-year old was swept away by Nahad rivulet. A seven-month-old baby drowned after her mother slipped and fell into rivulet in Chamba. Continuous heavy rain affected life in 10 of 12 districts of Himachal Pradesh. Many roads were closed in entire Himachal Pradesh due to landslides. Nearly 213 roads were closed in Shimla, 29 in Hamirpur, 49 in Mandi zone and 90 in Kangra zone. The Bhakra-Naina Devi road was also closed. A huge boulder hit a moving car on Kalka-Shimla Highway following which traffic was severely disrupted. Boulders were falling along Unesco World Heritage Kalka-Shimla rail line which led to congestion in Rail Traffic. Also read: 27 people drown a Boat capsizes in Central Africa

Also, the Beas and Ravi rivers and their Tributary Nullahs were flowing at the danger level mark. Thousands of people living at the banks of these rivers have been evacuated to safer locations in Mandi, Kangra, Chamba and Kullu. -PTC NEWS
