Rajasthan Dalit News: In a heart-wrenching incident, two dalit men were brutally thrashed and tortured by an auto agency staff in Nagaur district of Rajasthan. The Dalit men were allegedly caught stealing Rs 500 from a two-wheeler agency. A video that surfaced on social media, showed some people stripping one of the accused and proceeding to insert a screwdriver, dipped in a bottle of petrol, into the man’s rectum.
As per report, the incident took place on February 16 but the police registered an FIR on February 19 after the video of the incident surfaced on social media. According to the information, the two Dalit men had visited the service centre to get their vehicle serviced. They were accused of stealing money from the centre’s vault. A group of men went attacked the Dalit men and thrashed them mercilessly.
Meanwhile, the police has registered a case under Sections 143 (unlawful assembly), 323 (punishment for voluntarily causing hurt), 341 (punishment for wrongful restraint), 342 (for wrongful confinement) of the Indian Penal Code and relevant Sections of the SC/ST Act.
Seven accused have been arrested. Some of the accused have been identified as Aidan Singh, Bheem Singh, Jassu Singh and Sawai Singh.
While reacting to the video, Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot said in a tweet, “In the horrific incident in Nagaur, immediate and effective action has been taken and seven accused have been arrested so far. Nobody will be spared. The culprits will be punished according to the law and we will ensure that the victims get justice.”
Likewise, senior Congress leader Rahul Gandhi took to twitter and wrote: “The recent video of two young Dalit men being brutally tortured in Nagaur, Rajasthan, is horrific & sickening. I urge the state Government to take immediate action to bring the perpetrators of this shocking crime to justice.”
