Randeep Singh Surjewala's father Shamsher Singh Surjewala passes away
Veteran Congress leader and father of Randeep Singh Surjewala, Shamsher Singh Surjewala passed away on Monday following the prolonged illness. Meanwhile, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi visited Randeep Singh Surjewala at All India Institute Of Medical Sciences, New Delhi.
The 87-year-old Shamsher Singh Surjewala had been ailing for the past couple of years. The cremation ceremony will take place at 3 pm on Monday at Narwana. He has represented Narwana constituency as MLA four times before moving to Kaithal following delimitation. Shamsher Singh was the father of AICC media in-charge and former Haryana minister Randeep Singh Surjewala.
While sharing condolences over the sad demise of Shamsher Singh Surjewala, Haryana Congress took to twitter and wrote: "The news of the death of former President of Haryana Congress, former Rajya Sabha MP and former Minister Shri Shamsher Singh Surjewala ji is very sad. Their departure is a big loss. Today, the state has lost a worthy politician, development man and great public servant. Emotional tribute."

Shamsher Singh Surjewala remained minister in the state government on four occasions. He was five-time MLA—from Narwana in 1967, 1977, 1982 and 1991 and from in 2005 from Kaithal. Surjewala was also former president of the All India Kisan Congress, who raised the issue of farmers’ suicides in Haryana.
