Rape-accused under trial escapes from Gurugram jail by hiding in garbage van

Rape-accused under trial escapes from Gurugram jail by hiding in garbage van An under-trial rape accused escaped from the Bhonsdi Jail in Gurugram on Friday afternoon while hiding in a garbage van. Police officials said that Amit’s arrest was preceded by a complaint against him on September 15. He has been charged with allegations of rape and relevant sections of the SC/ST Act. Jail authorities realised that Amit had escaped after the head count on Friday evening. After failing to locate him, jail authorities combed through CCTV footage only to find out that the inmate had fled onboard a garbage van. An FIR was then registered in this regard at the Bhonsdi police station. Warden-in-charge of Barrack number three which housed Amit, Azad Singh said, “It has been found that the prisoner escaped due to the laxity of Barrack number three warder in-charge Kuldeep Singh.” Earlier this month, a policeman in Madhya Pradesh died after an under trial attacked him with a stick inside the police station. The entire incident was caught on camera. -PTC News
