Rohit Sharma, Vinesh Phogat, Rani Rampal among others to receive Khel Ratna
The list of the prestigious sports awards is out. There are different categories such as; Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna Award, Dronacharya Award, Arjuna Award, Dhyanchand Award, Tenzing Norgay National Adventure Awards 2019, Maulana Abul Kalam Azad (MAKA) Trophy, Rashtriya Khel Protsahan Puruskaar.
The Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna Award in Sports and Games is the highest sporting honor of the Republic of India. The award is named after Rajiv Gandhi, former PM of India who served the office from 1984 to 1989. It is awarded annually by the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports.
The recipients are selected by a committee constituted by the Ministry and is honored for their "spectacular and most outstanding performance in the field of sports over a period of four years" at international level.
Union Sports Minister, Kiren Rijiju's office tweeted, 'The Government has announced the final list of awardees of the National Sports Awards 2020. Union Sports Minister @KirenRijiju extends his heartiest congratulations to all winners. Their contribution to Indian Sport will go a long way in making India a Sporting Superpower.

Union Cabinet Minister of Food Processing in the Govt of India, Harsimrat Kaur Badal also congratulated the winners, she tweeted, "Heartiest congratulations to our talented sports persons being conferred with the prestigious awards. You all are truly an inspiration for India's youth!
