According to legend, the young Sita was able to effortlessly lift Lord Shiva's Pinaka bow, a weapon considered too heavy for even the mightiest kings. Witnessing this remarkable feat, King Janaka is believed to have decided that only the man capable of lifting the bow would be worthy of marrying his daughter.

This legend eventually led to the famous Sita Swayamvar, where Lord Ram successfully lifted and broke the bow to win her hand in marriage.

Nitesh Tiwari's Ramayana unveiled its first trailer during the auspicious Brahma Muhurat at 4:15 am on July 30. The film is being promoted as one of the most ambitious cinematic adaptations of the epic ever made.

Reportedly mounted on a budget of Rs 4,000 crore, the two-part film features large-scale battle sequences, advanced visual effects and has been specially shot for the IMAX format.

The Haiwaan movie release date announcement also confirms that the film brings back popular on-screen duo Akshay Kumar and Saif Ali Khan together after many years.

On the same date, Haiwaan movie release date places the film in direct competition with Ayushmann Khurrana and Sara Ali Khan’s upcoming spy comedy Udta Teer, creating a high-profile box office clash.

Priyadarshan returns with a thriller

Veteran filmmaker Priyadarshan, known for films like Hera Pheri, Bhool Bhulaiyaa, and Garam Masala, returns to the thriller genre with Haiwaan. The film also follows his recent collaboration with Akshay Kumar in Bhooth Bangla.

Haiwaan features Akshay Kumar, Saif Ali Khan, Shriya Pilgaonkar and Saiyami Kher in key roles. The film is reportedly an official Hindi adaptation of the Malayalam thriller Oppam (2016), originally starring Mohanlal.

Udta Teer to release on same day

On the same date, Udta Teer will also release in theatres. The film stars Ayushmann Khurrana and Sara Ali Khan in the lead roles and is directed by Akash A Kaushik.

The spy comedy is backed by a strong production team, including Karan Johar, Adar Poonawalla, Apoorva Mehta, Guneet Monga Kapoor and Achin Jain. The film marks another collaboration between Ayushmann Khurrana and Sara Ali Khan after their earlier project Pati Patni Aur Woh Do.

The simultaneous release of both films is expected to create a major box office clash in 2026.

According to sources close to the actor, the couple recently decided to make their relationship official and opted for a simple registered marriage instead of a grand celebration. The ceremony is expected to be attended only by family members and a select group of close friends.

FWICE has issued a non-cooperation order against the actor, asking members of the film industry not to work with him until the dispute is settled. FWICE chief advisor Ashoke Pandit called the matter serious and said such incidents are becoming a worrying trend in the industry. He stated that actors should not walk away from projects just days before filming starts, as it causes heavy losses to producers and affects many workers linked to the film.

The issue was earlier discussed with the Producers Guild of India, where senior producers reportedly tried to resolve the matter. However, talks between both sides did not lead to a final agreement.

Director Farhan Akhtar also reacted to the controversy in an interview, saying that in the film industry nothing can be taken for granted until the film is actually completed.

What makes this achievement sweeter? The movie is only the third Hindi film and sixth Indian film of 2026 to reach this landmark.

Bhooth Bangla, the horror-comedy, has rewritten the record book with its own genre. It has already outpaced 'Bhediya', 'Munjya', 'Thamma' (Rs 171 crore), and even the original 'Stree' (Rs 180 crore) in terms of total worldwide collection. That puts it fourth on the all-time Bollywood horror-comedy list, sitting behind the blockbuster trio of Stree 2 (Rs 875 crore), Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3 (Rs 424 crore), and Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2 (Rs 266 crore).

Its next immediate target is Prabhas' The RajaSaab, which wrapped its run at Rs 208 crore. Whether Bhooth Bangla can push further toward Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2's total depends on how audiences turn up over the third weekend, especially with fresh competition arriving in the form of The Devil Wears Prada 2 and Raja Shivaji.

Bhooth Bangla marks Priyadarshan's return to Hindi cinema after five years, and his first film with Akshay Kumar since 2011. The ensemble cast featuring Tabu, Paresh Rawal, Wamiqa Gabbi, Rajpal Yadav and Mithila Palkar, has been widely praised for keeping the comedy sharp and the scares entertaining. The overseas performance, while modest at $5.6 million, has already flattened out with daily earnings dipping below $80K, making a $6 million finish the realistic ceiling abroad.

The actor visited the NCW office on Monday after being summoned over allegations that the song contained objectionable and suggestive content. He was accompanied by his legal representative during the appearance.

According to reports, Sanjay Dutt told the commission that he was not aware of the exact wording of the song at the time of recording. However, he expressed regret and apologised out of respect for women and the commission. His lawyer also stated that the actor has voluntarily offered to sponsor the education of 50 children from tribal communities.

The controversy began soon after the release of the song, which features Nora Fatehi alongside Sanjay Dutt. The track drew criticism on social media for its lyrics and dance moves, with many calling it inappropriate and offensive.

Taking note of the issue, the NCW had earlier said that the content appeared to be sexually suggestive and potentially in violation of legal provisions. The commission acted on its own and issued notices to those associated with the song.

Amid the backlash, the song’s lyrical video was later removed from YouTube across multiple languages by its music partner. Nora Fatehi had also responded publicly, stating that she does not support such content and welcomed the decision to take it down.

The film, directed by Prem, is a pan-India project and had generated buzz ahead of its release. However, the controversy around the song has now brought it under scrutiny.

The matter is still under review, and further action, if any, will depend on the findings of the commission.

Speaking about it, Aditya Dhar said he was not sure about adding a lip-sync dance number in the film. But choreographer Vijay Ganguly convinced him to go ahead with it. That decision later turned out to be one of the highlights of the film.

Sharing pictures from the sets, Aditya praised Vijay for his work and called him an outstanding choreographer. He said Vijay understands music deeply and brings emotions to life through his choreography. He also mentioned that Vijay thinks like a director, which made things easier during filming.

Talking about the song, Aditya Dhar recalled that Vijay’s confidence gave both him and music composer Shashwat Sachdev the push they needed. Today, Shararat has become one of the most loved tracks from the film.

The song, sung by Madhubanti Bagchi and Jasmine Sandlas, features Ayesha Khan and Krystle D'Souza. It shows a wedding celebration of characters played by Ranveer Singh and Sara Ali Khan and its dance step has gone viral on social media.

Aditya also appreciated Vijay’s positive attitude, saying his energy and excitement kept the team motivated even during tough shoots.

Meanwhile, Dhurandhar, a two-part spy thriller, has been doing record business at the box office. The first part, released in December, earned over Rs 1300 crore worldwide. The second part, which hit theatres on March 19, has already crossed Rs 1700 crore globally within weeks. The film also stars Arjun Rampal, R Madhavan, Sanjay Dutt, Akshaye Khanna and Rakesh Bedi in key roles.

Reflecting on the moment Reena left with their children, Aamir shared how difficult it was for him to cope with the sudden emptiness.

He admitted that the experience marked the first time he turned to alcohol, despite never having been inclined towards it earlier. “I was a teetotaller until I went through my first divorce with Reena. And then, on the first day when she left with the kids and I was alone at home, I couldn’t handle my emotions at that time. I had never, I used to never drink alcohol. I had drunk once or twice for a couple of scenes, but that was only because I had to drink for the scene. I mean, I was not into alcohol at all.”

Describing how the situation escalated, he added, “That night, I had alcohol at home to serve guests and all that, so I started drinking. And for the next one and a half years, I drank almost a bottle a night. Now that’s really extreme, from a person who was a teetotaller to someone who consumes a bottle a night is very extreme.”

The actor has previously addressed the emotional strain of the separation during an appearance on Koffee with Karan. Speaking about the end of their marriage, he said, “Reena and I were married for 16 long years. When we split up, it was traumatic for us and our families. We tried to deal with the situation as best as we could. Reena and I did not lose love or respect for each other post our split.”

Dhurandhar: The Revenge is the sequel to the 2025 blockbuster Dhurandhar and was released worldwide on March 19. Alongside Ranveer Singh, the film features a strong ensemble cast including R. Madhavan, Sanjay Dutt, Sara Arjun, Gaurav Gera, and Arjun Rampal.

Taking to Instagram, Rajpal Yadav addressed the situation and urged fans not to misinterpret the exchange. He explained that the moment was scripted and intended purely for entertainment.

He noted that such misunderstandings are not uncommon in films or live performances, where context can sometimes be lost.

What Happened at the event?

During the screen awards, there was a point of conversation about the ongoing oil crisis and its effect in India. Rajpal Yadav questioned Journalist Saurabh Dwivedi, "Itna Kuch ho raha hai duniya mein. How do I interpret the rupee-dollar fluctuation? Mujhe samaj nahi aa raha jo kuch ho raha hai."

To this, Saurabh responded, “Rajpal bhai, dollar-rupya kitna bhi upar neeche ho, aapko utne hi paise lautane padenge jitne udhaar hain.” 

In no time, this statement made everyone laugh out loud, to which Rajpal said, “Masla toh sun lo ek baar."
