Her elder son is reportedly settled abroad.&nbsp;</p><p><br></p><p>According to the police, both the mother and the son had an argument in the morning, which soon escalated into an altercation. In a fit of rage, Ravi allegedly attacked his mother with a sharp-edged weapon, slitting her throat, killing her on the spot.</p><p><br></p><p>The neighbours reportedly reached spot after hearing distressing noises from inside, and found the woman lying in a pool of blood, while her son had already fled the spot.&nbsp;</p><p><br></p><p>The residents immediately informed the police, who arrived and took the body into custody.</p><p><br></p><p>Police said the accused was mentally disturbed and had escaped before they arrived. The SUV driver fled the spot after the accident. The police has so far managed to seize the vehicle, however the accused remain at large.&nbsp;</p><p><br></p><p>Meanwhile, a massive row erupted at GMCH Hospital in Sector 32 a day after the accident with the family of the teenage girls alleging harassment by doctors.&nbsp;</p><p><br></p><p>The girl’s father alleged that instead of treating his daughter, the doctors were threatening to throw them out. “They even called the guards and tried to force us outside,” he claimed. Questioning the police’s handling of the case, he said that the driver of the Thar has still not been arrested, even though CCTV cameras are installed across the city.</p><p><br></p><p><br></p><p>The family has warned of larger demonstration if appropriate action is not taken soon.&nbsp;</p><p><br></p><p>According to the information, over 10 challans were issued in the name of Thar driver, yet no arrest have been made so far.&nbsp; However, the police officials said that the driver's house was traced to Sector 21. In view of the onset of winters, the UT administration has decided to implement new winter OPD hours, which will remain in effect from October 16 to April 15, 2026. Under the revised schedule, OPD services will now operate from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.</p><p><br></p><p>The revised timings will be applicable to the Government Multi-Specialty Hospital in Sector 16, as well as its affiliated dispensaries, Civil Hospital Sector 22, Civil Hospital Manimajra, and Civil Hospital Sector 45.</p><p><br></p><p>Currently, the OPD timings at these hospitals and dispensaries are from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m.</p><p><br></p><p>The administration clarified that there will be no change in the existing timings of the ESI Dispensaries in Sectors 29 and 23, as well as the U.T. By around 8:30 a.m., most of the houses had been reduced to piles of sand, bricks, and rubble.</p><p><br></p><p>Around 450 houses were demolished in the drive. However, four houses that had court-issued stay orders were spared.</p><p><br></p><p>The action has sparked outrage among the residents, most of whom are migrants. The residents have described the demolition as unfair ahead of the festive season and said that they have nowhere to go now.&nbsp;</p><p><br></p><p>According to the administration, a two-week notice was served prior to the demolition and residents were warned to vacate the colony by September 30.</p><p><br></p><p><b>200 police personnel deployed for security</b></p><p>During the demolition, the district administration directed the SSP to deploy four DSPs, women constables, and 200 police personnel for security. The Health Department was instructed to station four ambulances at the site. The court highlighted that this compensation is in addition to the amounts already dispursed to the victims' families.&nbsp;</p><p><br></p><p>A bench comprising Justice Kuldeep Tiwari has directed Chandigarh education department to ensure that every school either permits students to have their meals in classrooms or facilitate a proper safe and hygiene dining space.</p><p><br></p><p>In July 2022, a 250-year-old peepal tree fell on a group of students while they were having lunch at Carmel Convent School. A class 10 girl was killed and 14 were injured.</p><p><br></p><p>The death of the child was an irreplaceable loss to the family, HC said in its recent order. "She could have brought laurels and acclaim to her parents, but this tragic incident shattered their aspirations and dreams.</p><p><br></p><p>Regarding the girl who lost a limb, Justice Tiwari observed that at the age of 15, she suffered the amputation of her left arm and had to undergo multiple medical interventions and surgeries. She endured significant trauma and disability, adversely affecting her ability to perform daily activities.&nbsp;</p><p><br></p><p>"Although she has joined school, she faces limitations in participating fully in activities such as sports, dancing, writing, and drawing. The second-highest bid went to “0003” at Rs 17.84 lakh, followed by “0009” at Rs 16.82 lakh. Other popular numbers included “0005” (Rs 16.51 lakh), “0007” (Rs 16.50 lakh), “0002” (Rs 13.80 lakh), and “9999” (Rs 10.25 lakh).</p><p><br></p><p>According to Pradhuman Singh, Director of the Transport Department, all seven numbers achieved record bids in their respective categories, leading to the highest profit in any RLA auction to date. However, when the constables asked them to leave the area, they got into an argument. The CCTV footage of the explosions showed a man hurling crude bomb at the clubs before fleeing the spot. The explosion was so massive that it shattered the windows of the establishments.</p><p><br></p><p>Fortunately no injuries were reported. The DGP in its order said, policemen posted at traffic light points and intersections will only control the traffic and all the challans must be issued via cameras only.&nbsp;</p><p><br></p><p>The directive also stated that no vehicle shall be stopped by Chandigarh police on the pretext of issuing challan. If any police personnel found violating the rules, strict action will be taken against them .&nbsp;</p><p><br></p><p>The decision follows a meeting chaired by Chandigarh DGP at the Police Headquarters in Sector 9. Out of these, 1,433 cameras are directly connected to the police control room. Apart from this, out of 1,015 ITMS cameras installed at 40 major locations, 159 cameras identify those who jump red lights.</p><p><br></p><p>In order to streamline traffic system, Automatic Queue Detection System (QDS) has also been installed at traffic light points. This system will automatically decide the timing of the traffic lights based on the number of vehicles on the road.
