The incident took place during the night of August 16-17 at Rajamahendravaram. Panchayat Raj assistant engineer Thillapudi Nookaraju, his wife Meena, daughter Sowjanya and 10-year-old grandson reportedly jumped into the river from the road-cum-rail bridge.

Fishermen rescued the boy, but Nookaraju, Meena and Sowjanya died.

The police said they recovered a note allegedly written by Nookaraju during the investigation. The note reportedly mentioned rifle shooting coach Sheikh Sadhik Khan and raised questions about events that happened before the family entered the river.

A case was registered against Khan. The charges include alleged coercion to convert Nookaraju to another religion, murder and extortion.

Khan was later arrested in Meerut, Uttar Pradesh, following a search that involved several states.

Kakinada District SP Bindu Madhav said the police carried out a difficult chase across five states. More than 10 teams were reportedly involved in tracking the accused.

Investigators also managed to trace Khan's movements despite his alleged efforts to avoid using phones and digital payment services.

Khan was brought back to Andhra Pradesh on a transit warrant, officials said.

Khan knew family for nearly two years

According to the police, Khan had known Nookaraju and his family for around two years. He had also worked as a rifle shooting coach at the school attended by Nookaraju's grandson.

The police are now looking into Khan's alleged dealings with the family, his movements following the incident and the allegations mentioned in the recovered notes.

Former MP seeks CBI or NIA probe

The case has also led to calls for a wider investigation. Former MP Vijayasai Reddy has demanded a probe by either the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) or the National Investigation Agency (NIA).

Reddy has alleged that Khan was associated with a 10-member group allegedly involved in religious conversions, extortion, illegal gun supply and anti-national activities. He also claimed that the group had approached or targeted around 15 other families in the Kakinada and Rajamahendravaram areas.

Reddy said the alleged activities were not limited to one state and claimed that they could have links outside India, making the case suitable for a central agency investigation.

Police yet to establish 'Love Jihad' link

Khan is currently in police custody and is being questioned about his alleged role in the case. Investigators are working to establish the sequence of events before the deaths and determine whether anyone else was involved.

Police officials have so far said the investigation has not established any connection with the alleged 'love jihad' angle.

The victim has been identified as 40-year-old Rajesh. The accused, his wife, Vimala, was allegedly putting his intestines into a bag when the couple's landlord reached the terrace of the house after hearing them shout at each other.

The post mortem examination revealed that the laceration on his abdomen measured approximately 35 centimetres.

Rajesh, who worked as a water supplier, was originally from Uttar Pradesh. He and his wife Vimala had been living in Kurukshetra for nearly a year. The couple had rented a room on the upper floor of a house owned by their landlord, Rinku.

On Friday around 5 pm, Rinku heard Rajesh and Vimala arguing loudly. When he went upstairs to check, he found Rajesh lying in a pool of blood.

Rinku claimed that he saw Vimala putting Rajesh’s intestines into a bag. When she noticed him, she allegedly panicked and jumped from the terrace. She was injured in the fall and was later taken to a hospital for treatment.

Police recovered three knives from the scene. Rinku also told investigators that Vimala allegedly practised exorcism and that the couple often fought.

The exact reason behind the murder is not yet clear. Rajesh and Vimala had reportedly been married for several years but did not have children.

Police are now investigating the couple’s marital disputes and trying to determine what led to the killing.

According to information, 38-year-old Manas Vajpayee allegedly shot his estranged wife, Divya Mishra, outside the ICICI Bank branch in Gomti Nagar on Thursday. He later allegedly killed his 28-year-old sister, Shiva Vajpayee, before taking his own life.

Rs 1 cr alimony demand under police scanner

Manas and Divya had been married for around 12 years but had been living separately for more than a year. Divya had filed for divorce last year. Police sources said investigators have recovered documents related to the divorce proceedings. The documents reportedly contain details of the settlement discussions, including an alleged demand for Rs 1 crore as alimony.

The divorce matter was reportedly heard in court just two days before the killings. According to sources, the financial settlement was discussed during the hearing, and police are examining whether the dispute may have contributed to the crime.

However, the investigation is still underway and the alleged alimony demand has not been established as the sole motive.

Dispute over Manas' sister also investigated

Investigators are also looking into another issue that had reportedly caused tension between the couple. Manas' sister Shiva, who was 28, was reportedly dealing with mental health problems and had been staying with the couple. Sources said Divya was unhappy with the situation, which allegedly led to repeated arguments between the husband and wife.

The police are examining whether the dispute over Shiva's living arrangements and her condition added to the strain in the relationship.

Divya's sister makes serious allegations

Divya's sister Pragya Mishra, a YouTuber, has alleged that Manas had been abusive towards her sister. In a social media post, Pragya claimed that Manas would allegedly assault Divya over minor issues. She cited an incident involving a rotten tomato ordered through Blinkit as an example. Pragya also questioned how Manas managed to obtain the firearms used in the killings.

What happened on Thursday?

According to the police, Manas, who worked with the State Bank of India, called Divya to meet him outside the ICICI Bank branch where she worked.

After speaking with her for a few minutes, he allegedly opened fire. Divya was taken to a hospital but was declared dead on arrival.

Manas then allegedly returned to his home, where he shot his sister Shiva. A short while later, he died by suicide.

WhatsApp status before death

The police have also taken note of a WhatsApp status allegedly posted by Manas shortly before his death. In it, he claimed responsibility for killing his wife and sister and referred to his wife as having cheated on him.

The police are now examining the WhatsApp status, divorce documents, financial dispute and other evidence to establish what led to the deaths.

According to police, the attackers fired around 10 bullets at Kana and then fired two shots in the air before fleeing. He was facing 31 criminal cases, including murder, and was considered one of Hisar’s most wanted criminals.

Kana was accused of killing the nephew of the personal assistant of MLA Savitri Jindal.

Gangster had come to court for a hearing

Vinod Panu, alias Kana, had come to the Hisar court for a hearing when the attack took place. As he came out of the court gate at around 2 pm, two attackers on a motorcycle allegedly opened fire at him.

Arrested by CIA in Jhajjar in 2017

Police said Kana had a criminal presence across Delhi-NCR and several other areas. He was arrested by a CIA team from the Bhadawas area of Jhajjar in 2017, along with seven of his associates.

At the time, a reward of Rs 7 lakh had been announced for his arrest. Police had said that Kana and his associates were travelling in a Fortuner, an EcoSport and an i20 when they were caught. They were allegedly planning to kill Pradeep Solanki, a member of the Manjeet gang.

Police had recovered several weapons from them, including revolvers, a carbine, 12-bore guns, pistols and a large number of cartridges.

The investigation into Roopa Reddy’s murder reportedly got a major breakthrough from her last conversation with her aunt.

During the call, Roopa had addressed someone as “Babu”, a term she often used for students at her school. This led police to check students who were absent around the time of the murder. After the school reopened, 13 absent students were identified and questioned.

Five of them were Class 10 students. Police became suspicious of two students who appeared to be spending a lot of money. During questioning, Rs 1.54 lakh in cash was allegedly found with one of them.

The student claimed that his parents had given him the money, but police reportedly found bloodstains on some currency notes. Forensic tests later confirmed that the blood matched Roopa Reddy’s, police said.

Investigators then looked into a possible motive. One of the accused had reportedly earlier stayed in the school hostel. Roopa had allegedly found cash and a phone in his bag, reprimanded him and later shifted him from the hostel to day-scholar status. Police suspect this may have caused resentment.

The student had also allegedly travelled to Goa about a month before the murder and was looking for ways to make money. Police said he conducted a recce of Roopa Reddy’s house five days before the murder after learning that school fee collection money could be kept there.

On August 11, Roopa Reddy returned home from school.

The incident unfolded Bhai Randhir Singh Nagar area of the city. The entire incident was captured on the CCTV, showing the attackers entering the shop and firing three consecutive shots before escaping the spot. 

The incident took a new turn after an Instagram page called ‘Gopi Lahoria Group’ posted a message claiming responsibility for the firing. The post reportedly included threats against the targeted outlet, raising suspicions of a possible gang-related attack.

Following the social media post, the police cyber cell also joined the investigation. Officials are checking whether the Instagram account is genuinely connected to a gang or was created by someone to spread fear and falsely claim responsibility.

Investigators are examining technical details related to the account to identify the person operating it and trace its location.

Police are treating both the CCTV footage and the social media post as important evidence. They are investigating the motive behind the firing, the identity of the attackers and whether the gang's claim is genuine.

The incident has once again raised concerns about gun violence and gang-related threats in Ludhiana. Police are trying to determine whether the shooting was a targeted attack or linked to extortion or a gang rivalry

The decease has been identified as Indrawati, 91, who was living alone after death of her husband, a former government inter college principal. 

A domestic help discovered her body and alerted neighbours. 

Mishra, who is currently posted in Lucknow, reached the village around 3 pm and filed a complaint alleging murder and robbery against unidentified persons.

Jewellery missing

Police found that a gold chain, nose pin, earrings and anklets were missing from the house, while other belongings appeared untouched. The family suspects that thieves entered the house on Saturday night, killed Indrawati and escaped with her jewellery.

The jewellery that the 91-year-old woman regularly wore was found missing after her death. Police suspect that someone familiar with the family or the house may have information about the missing valuables. Family members are also being questioned as part of the investigation.

IPS officer Ashutosh Mishra has filed a complaint at the Malipur police station regarding the alleged theft.

Although there were no visible injury marks on Indrawati's body, blood was reportedly coming from her mouth, raising suspicions of foul play. Her body has been sent for a post-mortem examination to determine the exact cause of death.

The report will help establish whether she died of a heart attack, another medical condition or an assault. Police are also investigating what happened inside the house before the woman was found dead.

The deceased nurse has been identified as Rupali Burman, who was posted in the hospital's gynaecology department.

The police had to force open the locked toilet door after repeated attempts to get a response from inside failed.

Police sources said she entered the restroom at around 10:20 pm.

When she did not return, her colleagues began calling out to her at around 10:27 pm. There was no response from inside. Staff members concerned eventually alerted the police and the locked door was forced open. The nurse was found lying unconscious on the floor.

Her colleagues immediately placed her on a trolley and tried to get her medical assistance. However, she died before a doctor could attend to her.

The body was subsequently recovered from the restroom and sent for a post-mortem examination. The exact cause of death has not yet been established.

Police officials said there is currently no confirmed evidence to conclude that the death was a suicide.

The Kolkata Police have taken over the investigation through the DD Homicide Department. Joint Commissioner of Police (Crime) Kunal Agarwal said the matter came to light at around 10:30 pm. He confirmed that the nurse worked in the hospital's gynaecology department and said the post-mortem examination would be conducted to determine the cause of death. A forensic team is also being sent to the hospital to examine the scene and collect evidence.

A CCTV camera is reportedly installed outside the restroom where the nurse was found. Sources said the camera captured the sequence of events surrounding her movement into the restroom.

The police have already taken possession of the footage and are examining it to establish the timeline leading up to her death.

Besides police investigation, the West Bengal Health Department has also initiated a separate inquiry into the incident. An investigation committee has been formed and has been asked to submit its report to the health department within seven days.

What looked like the aftermath of a robbery gone wrong soon turned out to be something far more disturbing, a carefully planned killing involving his wife, her lover and a third accomplice.

On the morning of August 10, around 5 am, the Delhi Police received a distress call about an injured man lying on Ratiya Marg in Sangam Vihar. When officers reached the spot, they found Munna Lal in a pool of blood, with visible injuries all over his body.

He was rushed to the AIIMS Trauma Centre, but doctors declared him dead on arrival. The police immediately registered a case and started the investigation. 

A plan hatched by his eife

As investigators pieced together the sequence of events, they found that Munna Lal's wife, 45-year-old Manju, who also goes by the name Nazia, had allegedly orchestrated the entire murder. She reportedly offered Rs 5 lakh to Chaman, a mechanic who worked at a shop near their home and with whom she was allegedly in a relationship, to carry out the killing.

The night before the murder, Chaman allegedly gave Nazia sleeping pills, which she mixed into a glass of water and gave to her husband before he went to bed.

According to Deputy Commissioner of Police (South) Anant Mittal, once Munna Lal fell asleep, Chaman entered the house and strangled him with a rope, smothered him and administered electric shocks to make sure he did not survive.

Chaman, 20, did not act alone. He brought along a 28-year-old accomplice named Kishan to help carry out the crime. To leave no room for survival, the accused reportedly also beat Munna Lal with a wooden stick.

Wife's cover story falls apart

When the police first questioned Nazia, she tried to steer the investigation in a different direction, claiming that burglars had broken into the house and killed her husband after he confronted them. She insisted she had been asleep at the time and had no idea what happened.

But her story didn't hold up for long. Investigators noticed inconsistencies at the scene. While there had been an attempt to clean up bloodstains and make the house look ransacked, the way items were scattered didn't match the pattern of an actual burglary.

The biggest breakthrough came from CCTV cameras outside the house, which captured a masked man entering the premises around 1.45 am and leaving nearly an hour and a half later, at 3.15 am.

Faced with mounting evidence, Nazia eventually broke down during questioning and confessed that she, along with Chaman and his friend, had murdered her husband.

The police also revealed that after the crime, Nazia paid Chaman Rs 20,000, though the promised amount was much higher.

Munna Lal and Nazia had been married for 22 years and had three children together, two daughters and a son. Their son, who usually stayed close to his father and rarely left him alone, happened to be away that night, having gone to participate in the Kanwar Yatra.

The police said Munna Lal was financially stable and worked as a property dealer, but there had reportedly been ongoing friction in the marriage. Nazia allegedly felt he did not give her enough money, which had led to frequent arguments between the couple over time.

All three accused, Nazia, Chaman and Kishan, have been arrested by the police.

Arjun Aravind, 17, who lives in Acton, was arrested early Wednesday after an overnight search by police. He has been accused of killing his 45-year-old mother, Sudha Venkatesan, and his 14-year-old brother, Siddarth Aravind.

Officials said Aravind allegedly attacked both victims inside their family home on Martha Lane on Tuesday. He then reportedly fled in his mother's Honda Accord.

The incident came to light when a tutor arrived at the house around 6:30 pm for a scheduled appointment. After being unable to enter the house, she contacted Aravind's father. When he could not reach his wife or sons, he called the police and requested a welfare check.

Police officers later entered the house and found Sudha Venkatesan dead in the basement and Siddarth dead on the first floor with visible injuries. The exact cause of death and the weapon used are still being investigated.

Aravind and his mother's car were missing, leading police to launch a search and alert other law enforcement agencies. Early Wednesday, police in Wayland found the Honda Accord in a parking lot while responding to an unrelated alarm. Aravind was found inside the vehicle and was taken into custody without any incident.

He faces several charges, including two counts of murder, assault and battery, unauthorised use of a vehicle, and vehicle theft.

Among the schools that received the threat was Vivek High School in Sector 38, Carmel Convent School, Sector 9B, St. John’s High School, Sector 26, Sacred Heart Senior Secondary School, Sector 26, St. Stephen’s School, Sector 45B. 

Following the threatening email, the school authorities informed the police and evacuated students and staff as a precautionary measure. Teams of Chandigarh Police along with bomb disposal squad reached the spot and launched the investigation. 

“Students who came accompanying their parents have been sent back home, while others have been moved to a safe location outside the building. They will be allowed to re-enter once the building is declared safe by the security agencies,” said an official.

“The email was received on Tuesday morning and the police was informed. Considering the vigil needed for ensuring a smooth Independence Day celebration, the police are taking every emergency call seriously,” a police officer said.

In the past, threat emails have also been received by schools, the Punjab and Haryana High court, the Mayor’s office and other important offices.

Security agencies are continuing their searches and investigating the source of the latest threat.

Salazar, a college student, was found unresponsive with signs of trauma inside her apartment near the University of Arizona in Tucson on Thursday. Police arrived around 4 pm after her family requested a welfare check when they became concerned about her. She was later declared dead.

Investigators identified Batchigari, Salazar's boyfriend, as the main suspect in the case. According to reports, detectives believe he strangled Salazar, took her phone and credit cards, and sent messages to her mother while allegedly trying to conceal what had happened.

Suspect Flees US, Arrested in Germany

Police began searching for Batchigari after discovering that he had left Tucson. Investigators say he travelled from Tucson International Airport to Houston before boarding a flight to Berlin, Germany. Authorities believe he may have been trying to return to India.

An arrest warrant was issued as investigators tracked his movements. Arizona authorities, working with federal agencies, located and detained him after he arrived in Germany.

Batchigari is expected to be extradited to Arizona, where he will face a first-degree murder charge and be booked into the Pima County Adult Detention Center.

Girlfriend Was Reportedly Planning to End Relationship

The investigation has also brought attention to allegations of abuse in the couple's relationship. Reports say Salazar had been planning to break up with Batchigari after allegedly experiencing sexual assault and abusive behaviour.

Her roommates reportedly became worried several days before her death after hearing loud screaming from her room on August 5. They contacted Salazar to check on her and were reportedly told that she was safe and that the incident had only been an argument.

Batchigari had been studying business analytics at the University of Arizona but was reportedly expelled after being involved in a fight. He was also allegedly facing previous domestic violence accusations.

Reports further state that Batchigari had recently lost his job, leaving him struggling to pay rent and potentially putting his immigration status in the US at risk. Authorities have not confirmed whether these circumstances were connected to Salazar's death or his alleged decision to flee the country.

The police have registered a case under multiple provisions of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, along with charges of kidnapping, rape and attempted murder.

According to the police, on Sunday, the Class 12 student left her home after informing her parents that she was meeting a friend at a shopping mall. When she failed to return and her mobile phone remained switched off, her family tried contacting her friends but found that she had not met any of them. A missing person complaint was then lodged with the police.

Investigators examined the teenager's phone records and social media activity, which led them to a 20-year-old man with whom she had reportedly been communicating through Instagram, Snapchat and online gaming platforms.

Police traced the suspect through his family

The accused was identified as Nirbhay alias Akash Madhav Pakhre, a resident of Thane who was studying BBA while living in a rented accommodation in Nagpur.

The police contacted his family and asked his mother to call him. During the conversation, the accused reportedly realised that the police had reached his family, after which he allegedly panicked.

Investigators said he then forced the girl to call her parents and assure them that she was safe. The call helped the police narrow down their search.

Shortly afterwards, the accused allegedly ordered food online. The police used the delivery to confirm the exact location before carrying out a rescue operation.

Survivor rescued during police raid

The police broke open the door of the rented accommodation and rescued the girl. According to investigators, the survivor was found injured and restrained, while the accused was allegedly holding a knife. She had multiple injuries and was immediately shifted for medical treatment.

The accused was taken into custody at the scene.

Digital evidence under investigation

During the investigation, the police alleged that the accused had taken objectionable photographs of the survivor and threatened to circulate them online. He is also accused of threatening harm to her family. Investigators have seized the knife and other materials from the rented accommodation and are examining electronic devices as part of the probe.

The police are also investigating whether any other person was involved in the crime or whether there may be additional victims.
