The announcement came during a special event in Los Angeles, where a civic resolution was presented in recognition of Diljit's influence as a singer, actor and producer. The resolution was introduced by Councilwoman Monica Rodriguez.

Diljit Dosanjh later shared moments from the ceremony on social media, giving fans a glimpse of the special occasion. In the video, he can be seen receiving the framed resolution and expressing his gratitude. On the professional front, Diljit continues to stay busy with both music and films. He was recently seen in director Imtiaz Ali's film Main Vaapas Aaunga and is also awaiting the release of Panjab 95, a period drama based on the life of human rights activist Jaswant Singh Khalra.

In the video, Gurindervir talks about the qualities required to stay ahead in any field, highlighting the importance of focus, dedication and hard work. The clip was shared with the tagline, "Alpha Meets an Alpha."

During their conversation, Alia Bhatt asked the athlete about the people and experiences that shaped his sporting career. Gurindervir revealed that legendary Jamaican sprinter Usain Bolt played a major role in inspiring him to pursue athletics.

Recalling his early days, he said that watching Bolt compete motivated him to dream of becoming a professional athlete and push his limits on the track.

The sprinter also spoke about the influence of his father, whose volleyball career was cut short due to an injury. According to Gurindervir, a conversation with his father made him realise the importance of making the most of sporting opportunities and encouraged him to take athletics seriously.

He also fondly remembered receiving his first pair of running spikes from his father, who had brought them from New Zealand. Gurindervir said the shoes were so special to him that he would carefully keep them on a table and never leave them on the floor.

According to police officials, Ugale was found hanging inside her bedroom at the Sai Santoshi Building in Aachole Village. Preliminary investigations indicate that she allegedly used a saree to hang herself from a ceiling fan between 7 pm and 7:30 pm.



Family members reportedly broke into the room after finding the door locked from inside. She was immediately taken to Vasai-Virar Municipal Hospital, where doctors declared her dead on arrival.

Following the incident, officers from Achole Police Station reached the spot and initiated legal formalities. An inquest was conducted before the body was sent for post-mortem examination.

Based on a complaint lodged by her father, Machhindra Ugale, the police registered an Accidental Death Report (ADR) under Section 194 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS) on June 15.

Investigators have not yet established the motive behind the incident. Police officials said all possible angles are being examined and further inquiries are in progress.

The news has left the television fraternity and her admirers shocked, as the young actress was considered a promising talent in the entertainment industry.

Sanchita had gradually made a name for herself through television, films and OTT projects. She gained popularity for portraying Diya Tandon in Zee TV's long-running drama Kumkum Bhagya and later appeared as Ruchita Jaitley in Wagle Ki Duniya.

She also featured in Dangal TV's Dilwali Dulha Le Jayegi, where she played the lead role of Sukoon opposite actor Sorab Bedi.

Apart from television, Sanchita worked in films and web projects. She portrayed the younger version of Tara Rani in the Vicky Kaushal-starrer Chhaava and was also seen in Silence 2: The Night Owl Bar Shootout alongside Manoj Bajpayee.

The dispute between actor Ranveer Singh and the Federation of Western India Cine Employees has intensified after the film body received a legal notice from the actor. FWICE chief advisor Ashoke Pandit confirmed that the federation would hold another press conference in Mumbai later in the day to address the matter.

While the contents of the legal notice have not been made public, FWICE is expected to discuss the ongoing standoff involving Ranveer Singh and Excel Entertainment. The federation's action stems from a complaint filed earlier this year by filmmaker Farhan Akhtar against Singh.

In an earlier statement, FWICE alleged that Singh had not displayed appropriate conduct and had declined to engage with the federation despite repeated attempts. As a result, it announced a Non-Cooperation Directive (NCD) against the actor.

Responding to the directive, Ranveer Singh issued a statement saying he would not discuss the matter publicly. He stressed that he has the utmost respect for the film fraternity and everyone associated with the Don franchise, adding that professional disagreements and personal relationships should be handled with dignity, maturity, and mutual respect.

Ashoke Pandit had earlier said that FWICE-affiliated workers and members across all departments would not work on Singh's projects and urged producers to support the federation's stand. However, amid growing criticism, he later clarified that the organisation had issued a "directive" rather than a "ban." He explained that while FWICE members would refrain from collaborating with the actor, others in the film industry remained free to do so.

As the controversy grew, several members of different film bodies reportedly opposed the action against Ranveer Singh. Critics of the directive argued that such a move would be difficult to enforce and could ultimately affect the livelihoods of workers who depend on film productions for employment.

Yograj Singh, father of former Indian cricketer Yuvraj Singh, had approached the district court on May 16, seeking pre-arrest bail after an FIR was lodged against him in Chandigarh.

The case was registered at Sector 36 police station under Section 79 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and Section 62A of the Information Technology Act, 2000, following a formal complaint filed by advocates Ujjwal Bhasin and Jatin Verma on May 14.

According to the complainants, a video clip from a web series 'Lukkhe' that circulated widely on social media allegedly contained offensive and derogatory remarks targeting women. The complaint stated that the comments promoted misogyny and hurt the dignity of women.

The controversial clip reportedly featured Yograj Singh’s character making remarks directed at a female police officer.

During the hearing, counsel for Yograj Singh argued that the actor was merely portraying a fictional role as part of a professional assignment and was bound by the script and contractual obligations. The defence also maintained that the actor had been falsely implicated in the matter and that no recovery was pending from him.

Opposing the bail plea, the prosecution told the court that custodial interrogation was necessary for the investigation. The state further submitted that voice samples of the accused were required and that the original recording connected to the alleged video clip also needed to be examined as part of the probe.

After hearing arguments from both sides, the court rejected Yograj Singh’s anticipatory bail application.

FWICE has issued a non-cooperation order against the actor, asking members of the film industry not to work with him until the dispute is settled. The issue began after reports claimed that Ranveer left the film just before shooting was set to begin. Producers have reportedly demanded around Rs 45 crore to cover pre-production expenses.

The complaint was filed by Excel Entertainment in April. According to reports, the production house said Ranveer had signed a three-film agreement with them. The makers also claimed that a huge amount had already been spent on planning and preparation for the film before the actor’s exit.

FWICE chief advisor Ashoke Pandit called the matter serious and said such incidents are becoming a worrying trend in the industry. He stated that actors should not walk away from projects just days before filming starts, as it causes heavy losses to producers and affects many workers linked to the film.

The issue was earlier discussed with the Producers Guild of India, where senior producers reportedly tried to resolve the matter. However, talks between both sides did not lead to a final agreement.

Director Farhan Akhtar also reacted to the controversy in an interview, saying that in the film industry nothing can be taken for granted until the film is actually completed.

Farhan Akhtar last directed 'Don 2', which featured Shah Rukh Khan, Priyanka Chopra and Boman Irani in important roles.

Ranveer Singh was last seen in 'Dhurandhar: The Revenge' directed by Aditya Dhar. The film also starred Arjun Rampal, R. Madhavan, Sanjay Dutt and others.

Taking to Instagram Stories on Monday, Kangana praised Aishwarya’s confidence and individuality, stressing that fashion should be viewed as a personal expression rather than something designed to satisfy public expectations.

In the video, that swiftly went viral on social media, a group of female dancers have explained the reason for quitting bring back Diljit Dosanjh under the spotlight for all the wrong reasons. 

The video opened with the women addressing the dancing community. “Dear dance community, we just quit the Diljit show, and here's why: It's truly not about one show or one artist; it's about the greater good of the dance community," one of them said. She further explains that when they accept poor standards, it harms the community rather than progressing it.

She further emphasized that accepting poor working conditions would ultimately damage the industry, urging people to reconsider what should be viewed as acceptable standards.

Concerns Over Costumes and Body Standards

As the conversation continued, another dancer raised concerns about the costume selection process, alleging that limited size availability affected opportunities for several performers.

“There were hardly any costume sizes beyond medium, and because of that, some dancers were not selected,” she said.

Challenging industry stereotypes, she added, “There’s a widespread belief that bigger people can’t dance or move well. Why should the costume determine the dancer? It should be the other way around.”

Auditions, Appearance And Social Media Pressure

The performers also spoke about concerns linked to auditions and appearance-based judgments. One dancer revealed that she was asked to provide her Instagram profile after submitting audition videos.

“For me, when someone asks for my social media account, it feels like they want to judge my appearance — my size, hair, and face,” she said. “I believe decisions should be based on our dance abilities, technical skills, and performance.”

The complaint was filed by two Chandigarh-based advocates, who alleged that the remarks made in the clip were offensive, insulting to women and hurt public sentiments. Acting on the complaint, the Chandigarh Police registered a case at Sector 36 police station on Thursday.

The controversy stems from a dialogue featured in the Hindi web series 'Lukkhe', released on Amazon Prime Video on May 8. A short segment from one of the episodes has since gone viral online, prompting legal and public backlash.

Advocates accuse Yograj Singh of using misogynistic language

According to the complaint submitted to the SSP on May 12 by advocates Ujjwal Bhasin and Jatin Verma, the 17-second clip contains “shameful, abusive and degrading” language directed at women.

The complainants argued that the dialogue not only insults women but also undermines the dignity and respect of mothers, daughters, sisters and wives. They further contended that such remarks coming from a nationally recognised public figure could normalise disrespectful attitudes toward women in society.

The advocates demanded immediate legal action against Yograj Singh and other associated people linked to the production and dissemination of the content.

Questions raised over social responsibility of public figures

In their representation to the police, the complainants also questioned whether the remarks reflected the values of equality and respect associated with Sikh teachings.

They stated that celebrities and influential personalities carry social responsibility and should avoid statements or performances that could promote misogyny or offend public sentiment.

The complaint further alleged that the dialogue violated women’s dignity and warranted strict legal action under relevant provisions of law.

Scene from web series triggered controversy

The disputed dialogue reportedly appears in a scene from Lukkhe in which Yograj Singh portrays a character named Walia Sahib.

The scene takes place inside a police station where a senior police officer and a woman officer are interacting with Walia Sahib. During the conversation, the character allegedly makes derogatory remarks about women after moving away from the female officer.

The clip was extracted from the episode and widely circulated on social media platforms, eventually drawing criticism from legal and women’s rights groups.

Punjab State Women Commission steps in

The matter escalated further after the Punjab State Women Commission took suo motu notice of the viral video.

On Thursday, the commission wrote to Punjab Police headquarters in Chandigarh, seeking a detailed inquiry by a senior officer into the matter. The commission said the video contained objectionable language directed at women and sought an action-taken report from the police.

As of now, Yograj Singh has not issued any public response regarding the FIR or the allegations.

The revelation has drawn significant attention as Diljit Dosanjh has remained one of the most celebrated Indian-origin artist  owing to his global outreach with roots tied to Punjabi identity and culture. 

The report also claims that his wife, Sandeep Kaur is also a US national. 

Over the years, he has frequently referred to himself as "Main Hoon Punjab [I am Punjab]," a phrase that became closely associated with his persona. However, he has never publicly spoken about giving up Indian citizenship or acquiring US nationality.

Notably he continued to work in Indian cinema despite being a US citizen. Earlier this year he joined the cast of Border 2 where portrayed the character of Nirmal Jit Sekhon, the only Indian Air Force officer to be honoured with Param Vir Chakra-highest military honour. 

The develpment follows speculations rifing singer's possible entry into the politics after a civil society group, Jaago Punjab Manch, appealed to him to take on leadership role in the state. 

According to the report, his last Indian passport was issued in 2018, while an earlier passport was issued in Zambia. At the time of obtaining US citizenship, he is said to have listed a luxury bungalow in California as his residential address.

The report surfaced just days after a group of retired IAS officers, former defence personnel, and professionals from Punjab publicly appealed to Diljit Dosanjh to join politics and take on a leadership role in the state.

However, Dosanjh quickly dismissed the idea. Responding on X, he wrote, “Kadey v nahi. Mera kaam entertainment karna” (Never. My only job is to entertain).

Under Indian law, foreign citizens who want Indian citizenship must meet conditions under the Citizenship Act, including staying in India for a required number of years before applying.

Born in Dosanjh Kalan village in Punjab, Diljit Dosanjh became famous through hit albums such as G.O.A.T., MoonChild Era, Ghost, and Ishq Da Uda Ada. He later emerged as one of the biggest stars in Punjabi music and cinema.

He also gained nationwide recognition through films like Udta Punjab and earned international attention with appearances on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon and his performance at Coachella.

The Punjabi singer has been in the news in recent days not only for his Aura 2026 tour, but also for taking on pro-Khalastani elements. His response came after a media report signalled his shift to politics ahead of Punjab Assembly elections slated for 2027.

Speculation around Diljit Dosanjh entering politics intensified after Jaago Punjab Manch — a group of civil society members that includes retired Army personnel and people from different professions — published a full-page advertisement in a leading English newspaper urging him to join politics. The group appealed to Diljit to “seize the moment” and step into public life, making it one of the rare public calls by a social organisation asking a singer to enter politics.

At the same time, a new video from Diljit’s concert in Calgary surfaced ahead of his Winnipeg show in Canada, where he spoke about facing criticism from both sides amid protests by pro-Khalistan supporters. Addressing the audience, he said that people in India call him “Khalistani,” while some pro-Khalistan supporters abroad call him “India wala.” He added that although he feels caught in between, he believes he is following the right path.

The tensions reportedly increased after Diljit criticised people waving Khalistan flags during his Aura 2026 concert in Calgary on May 1.

During his Winnipeg concert, only a small group of around four pro-Khalistan supporters protested against him, but they did not receive wider support from the audience.

In a long social media post, Celina shared a video where she is seen visiting the grave of her late son Shamsher. The actor is visibly emotional in the clip, breaking down as she cleans the grave. She said she had no choice but to make the video public to express her pain as a mother.

Celina revealed that she had travelled to Austria for a divorce hearing, hoping to meet her children. However, she alleged that despite court assurances, her children were moved to an undisclosed location and not brought back to her. She said she has currently been denied communication with her three surviving children.

Calling the past few weeks the “most difficult” of her life, Celina spoke about her journey as a wife and mother. She said she left her career and home in India and moved across countries like Dubai, Singapore and Austria to support her husband’s work. She also claimed she raised her children largely on her own while standing by her husband’s ambitions.

The actor further alleged that during the separation process, she faced unreasonable demands related to her premarital assets. She claimed that despite seeking an amicable settlement, her efforts were not met positively.

Celina also accused interference in her relationship with her children. She alleged that there has been an attempt to influence them against her and restrict regular communication.

Sharing how the divorce process began, Celina said she was unexpectedly served divorce papers in September last year under the pretext of collecting an anniversary gift.

The actor ended her note by saying she is still trying to prioritise her children’s well-being and is seeking dignity and fairness during the separation.

Soon after the BJP's decisive victory in Bengal, Agnihotri took to his social media and posted a celebratory message, calling it a key moment of transformation. Referring to Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, he alleged that she had banned The Bengal Files. At the same time, those involved in the film's release said efforts were being made to screen it not only in Kolkata but also in theatres across the state.

In his post on X, Agnihotri wrote, 'Our trailer launch was blocked. We were attacked and assaulted. Dozens of FIRs were filed against me. I was cancelled in Bengal. I couldn't even go to receive my award from the governor. But we never gave up. During these elections, we ensured the film was somehow shown to as many people as possible across Bengal. I am glad we didn't give up and fought in our own little way.'

According to the reports, Priya Cinemas' Arijit Dutta, who will release the film on Friday, said, 'A censored film didn't get released in Bengal because of a party diktat. Not a single theatre could screen it while the rest of India watched it. There was so much curiosity about the film. I am glad Bengal will finally get to watch it.'

With the film now scheduled to open in the state on Friday, The Bengal Files is set to be screened in Kolkata after months of controversy over its release in West Bengal.

A video from his recent show in Calgary surfaced online a day before his concert in Winnipeg. During the concert, Diljit spoke about the backlash he has been receiving from different groups.

He told the audience that in India some people call him a Khalistani, while certain groups in Canada label him as “India Wala”. He added that he often feels confused about where he belongs, but believes he is following the right path.

The controversy appears to have intensified after Diljit reacted to pro-Khalistan supporters waving flags during his Aura 2026 concert in Calgary on Friday. Several videos shared on social media showed heated arguments between protesters and people attending the show.

Addressing the crowd during the concert, the singer said people could continue showing flags, but warned that anyone creating disturbance inside the venue would be removed. His remarks received loud cheers from the audience.

After the concert, Gurpatwant Singh Pannun released a video saying that Sikhs for Justice would oppose Diljit’s upcoming concerts in the United States.

Following the statement, some pro-Khalistan supporters called for a boycott of the singer’s shows and announced plans to stage protests outside concert venues.

Meanwhile, Canadian Security Intelligence Service, in a public report released on Friday, described a small but active network of Khalistani extremist groups in Canada as a continuing national security concern.

The report said some individuals linked to these networks were allegedly involved in collecting and diverting funds to support violent activities in India. It also noted that a fringe section continued to use Canadian soil to promote, finance and plan violence.
