In a statement posted on its official Instagram account on Wednesday, GIVA said it has great respect for Indian culture, traditions and festivals. The company explained that the campaign was meant to include pets in the spirit of Raksha Bandhan. However, after the controversy grew online, the brand decided to remove the advertisement from all platforms “out of respect.”

GIVA added that it did not intend to hurt anyone’s sentiments through the advertisement.

“If our recent advertisement has inadvertently hurt the sentiments of some segments of society, that was not our intent at all. Out of respect, we have withdrawn the said advertisement from all media. Wish you all the love & positivity this festive season!” the brand said.

What was shown in the advertisement?

The advertisement showed Kriti celebrating Raksha Bandhan while wearing a bralette-style blouse with a cape and a draped skirt. Some social media users criticised her outfit and questioned whether it was appropriate for a festival-focused campaign.

The controversy grew after Kangana Ranaut criticised the advertisement and questioned Kriti's choice of clothes while tying a rakhi.

Kriti later responded to the criticism and defended her outfit. She said festivals should be about emotions, traditions and relationships rather than judging women based on what they wear.

In her response, Kriti said, “Culture & Traditions are in her heart, not in her neckline.”

She also defended the advertisement’s decision to include her pet in the Raksha Bandhan celebrations, saying that dogs are an important part of many families.

The trailer wastes little time establishing the emotional stakes. Taapsee plays Bani, whose daughter Mishty is abducted from a train right in front of her. While trying to save her child, Bani meets with a devastating accident and loses her eyesight.

But losing her vision does not make her give up. Instead, Bani begins a relentless search for her daughter, stepping into a world filled with danger, secrets and people whose motives are difficult to understand.

Taapsee Pannu takes on a physically demanding role

The trailer presents Taapsee in a raw and action-heavy avatar. Her character trains herself to face the challenges ahead and refuses to stop until she finds Mishty.

The story also introduces the mysterious Behrupiyas, adding another layer of danger to Bani's search. As the investigation unfolds, she encounters unexpected obstacles as well as potential allies.

Taapsee said the character’s determination was one of the biggest reasons she wanted to take up the project. She described Bani as someone who refuses to surrender even when circumstances are completely against her.

The actor also expressed excitement about reuniting with writer-producer Kanika Dhillon and Netflix, calling their creative association a partnership built on trust and a shared interest in stories featuring complex women.

Fans react to Gandhari trailer

The trailer has already generated a positive response online, with viewers praising Taapsee’s performance and the film’s intense premise.

Many fans called the trailer promising and said they were looking forward to watching the film. Others particularly highlighted Taapsee’s action-packed transformation and described the project as something different and intriguing.

Directed by Devashish Makhija and written and produced by Kanika Dhillon, Gandhari is set in the fictional town of Joypurra. At its heart, the film is about a mother navigating a dangerous search for her missing child. Along the way, Bani is forced to confront hidden truths, growing threats and unexpected people who become part of her journey.

His statement follows Himanshi's remarks during a podcast appearance where she recalled finding herself in the midst of conflicting religious identity while dating Asim. 

Meanwhile, Asim took to his social media and denied the allegations that he ever asked Himanshi to get converted and asserted that faith should not be brought into public disputes for attention. 

He wrote, "I never asked anyone to change their religion. Not once. Matter of fact, I was the one who pushed you towards fitness. You've been in this shape only after meeting me, before that, everyone knew how you looked. So please, don't use religion as a weapon. It's a deeply sensitive subject, and turning something so personal into a reason for people to hate me is immature and only shows how low you're willing to go for attention (sic)."

While addressing concerns surrounding their respective careers and finances, he said that he did not require anybody's assistance in establishing his career and suggested that bank statements call well corroborate financial claims. 

He added, "And when it came to my career, I never needed anyone to build it for me or claim credit for what they never contributed. Who has more money and who has less? Well, if you really want to know, the bank statements can settle that. But money was never the measure of character. Character is how far you're willing to fall when you're desperate for attention, relevance, or a few more views (sic),"

What did Himanshi say?

The controversy started after Himanshi appeared on Paras Chhabra’s podcast and was asked about reports that she had thought about converting to another religion during her relationship with Asim.

Himanshi clarified that she did not see it as a conversion. She said Asim was explaining the positive aspects of his religion to her, which she felt was not a bad thing.

However, she said she was not comfortable accepting his beliefs herself. According to Himanshi, Asim wanted her to understand and accept his religion, but she was not ready to do so.

She also recalled asking whether she would be “cremated or buried”, saying the question made her realise how deeply her own faith was connected to her identity.

After her comments sparked a debate online, Himanshi addressed the media reports on her Instagram Stories and called the controversy a “storm in a teacup.”

Asim and Himanshi’s Relationship

Asim and Himanshi announced their separation on December 6, 2023, after being together for nearly four years. Himanshi said at the time that their different religious beliefs were the reason for their breakup.

During a recent conversation with YouTuber Shubhankar Mishra, Sunny spoke about the kind of advertisements he chooses to do. The actor said he receives offers to promote pan masala but has refused them because he does not believe such products should be promoted.

Sunny made it clear that he does not want to associate himself with products that go against his personal beliefs.

He also explained that there are several things he chooses not to do because his conscience does not allow him to do them.

Shah Rukh Khan, Ajay Devgn and Tiger Shroff face FDA notices

The controversy surrounding celebrity endorsements of pan masala comes at a time when Shah Rukh Khan, Ajay Devgn and Tiger Shroff have received show-cause notices from the Maharashtra Food and Drug Administration (FDA).

The notices relate to their appearance in a 2024 advertisement for Vimal Elaichi. Vimal is also associated with pan masala products.

The FDA has raised concerns that such advertising could amount to indirect or surrogate promotion of pan masala or tobacco-related products, which are prohibited in Maharashtra.

Actors given 15 days to respond

According to the notice, the actors have been given 15 days from the date they received it to submit their responses.

The FDA has warned that further action could follow if the actors fail to respond or if their explanations are not considered satisfactory.

Why Sunny Deol’s old video has sparked debate

Sunny's old advertisement has now drawn attention mainly because of the timing. His recent statement that he does not promote pan masala has been widely discussed online, while users have been sharing the older commercial and questioning the apparent contradiction.

However, the resurfaced advertisement itself does not establish when it was made or the exact nature of the product's contents beyond the claims shown on its packaging.

The old video and Sunny's recent remarks have therefore become a talking point on social media, particularly amid the latest scrutiny of celebrity endorsements involving pan masala brands.

A Bench headed by Chief Justice of India Surya Kant, along with Justices Joymalya Bagchi and V Mohana, passed the order after taking note of the efforts made by Raina and the other accused to comply with the court’s earlier directions.

The court had asked them to organise awareness programmes and raise funds for persons with disabilities.

The Supreme Court appreciated the work done by Samay Raina, Vipul Goyal, Balraj Paramjeet Singh Ghai, Sonali Thakkar, also known as Sonali Aditya Desai, and Nishant Jagdish Tanwar.

The judges observed that genuine efforts can lead to positive results and noted that the accused had started working in a constructive direction.

The court also praised their efforts to organise shows for persons with disabilities. The criminal proceedings against the five accused have now been quashed.

However, the Supreme Court will continue to examine the larger issue surrounding online and comedy content involving persons with disabilities.

The court is expected to consider suggestions from people with disabilities before issuing possible directions to improve checks on such content.

What happened on India’s Got Latent?

The controversy relates to an episode of India’s Got Latent that was recorded on November 14, 2024, and released later. The episode triggered widespread criticism over alleged obscene and insensitive comments made during the show. Following the controversy, several people associated with the episode faced criminal cases in different parts of the country.

Among those facing legal action was YouTuber and podcast host Ranveer Allahabadia, popularly known as Beer Biceps.

Allahabadia had approached the Supreme Court seeking relief in the cases registered against him. His matter is still pending before the top court. The Supreme Court had earlier granted him interim protection from arrest.

For Samay Raina and the four other accused, however, the criminal proceedings have now come to an end with the court quashing the FIRs.

Supreme Court to examine wider issue

While giving relief to the five accused, the Supreme Court made it clear that the broader issue will continue to be considered. The court will look at ways to ensure that content involving persons with disabilities is handled more responsibly and may issue directions after hearing suggestions from affected groups.

In a recent interaction, Wamiqa Gabbi didn't hold back. She admitted that quite a few of those early projects weren't picks she made out of excitement. Piyush Mishra questions Shah

The controversy began after Naseeruddin Shah criticised several A-list celebrities for not speaking out during student protests. Shah had said that celebrities would speak when their conscience told them to. He also used an example involving a dog with a bone in its mouth, saying that it cannot bark until the bone is gone.

Piyush Mishra responded to the comment after meeting protesting JPSC students at Jaipal Singh Munda Stadium in Ranchi.

Piyush Mishra questioned who the “dogs with bones in their mouths” were in the current situation and asked Shah why the same standard was not being applied now.

He said he was asking the question with respect but wanted to know who the people referred to in Shah’s earlier comment were.

Kangana has questioned student protests

Kangana has also spoken against some aspects of the ongoing Gen-Z-led protests. She has particularly criticised videos in which some protesters allegedly used abusive language against Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Bhumi Pednekar appeals for respectful language

Bhumi Pednekar shared a video on Instagram expressing concern over the language heard in some viral videos related to the protest.

In the video, she said that people should maintain dignity while expressing disagreement and avoid using abusive words against someone holding a constitutional office such as the Prime Minister.

She also stressed that respectful conversations are essential for a healthy democracy. Referring to family values and social responsibility, the actor said that meaningful discussions become difficult when public discourse is dominated by offensive language.

Bhumi further urged people to focus on important issues such as education, women's safety and national unity while maintaining civility in public conversations.

Netizens question her silence on police action

Soon after the video was posted, Bhumi faced strong criticism across social media platforms. Many users questioned why she chose to comment on the language used during the protests but did not react to the alleged police action against students during the Parliament march on July 20.

Several users accused the actor of taking a selective stand. One user wrote that condemning abusive language while remaining silent on the alleged assault on students reflected a "selective approach." Another commented that it was easy to preach from a comfortable position without addressing the hardships faced by the protesters.

The controversy is linked to the nationwide protests over the alleged NEET UG 2026 paper leak. Thousands of students gathered at Jantar Mantar in New Delhi under the banner of the Cockroach Janata Party (CJP), demanding reforms in the examination system and accountability over the paper leak issue. Protesters also sought the resignation of the Education Minister, and demonstrations reportedly continued even after Dharmendra Pradhan's resignation.

On July 20, a group of protesters attempted to march towards Parliament. According to reports,  the police used lathicharge and tear gas to disperse the crowd. Videos circulating on social media appeared to show clashes between police personnel and protesters, triggering widespread debate online.

Reports also suggested that FIRs were registered against some protesters in different states following the demonstrations.

"You are using clips from my films, for which I was paid crores of rupees to perform. Are you trying to convince teenagers and young people that they should behave the same way on the streets, at school functions or in clubs?" she wrote.

'Don't mislead the youth,' says Kangana

The actress also warned social media users against influencing young audiences. She said misleading other people's children today could have consequences for their own families in the future.

"Stop misleading young people. These are not the same situations. Today you are misleading someone else's children, tomorrow the same could happen to yours," she added.

Reports suggest that medical examinations confirmed a complete hip tendon detachment, an injury that doctors reportedly described as uncommon among actors.

According to the reports, such tendon injuries are usually seen in professional athletes who undergo intense physical training.

Doctors have reportedly advised Rashmika to take six weeks of complete rest, followed by a structured rehabilitation programme to allow the tendon to heal properly before she resumes work.

The reported recovery plan means her ongoing film shoots, promotional activities and commercial commitments are likely to be delayed.

Official statement still awaited

Despite widespread reports about the accident, Rashmika Mandanna and her team have not yet issued an official statement regarding the incident or her medical condition.

Busy line-up of upcoming projects

One of the best-known alternative versions is the Adbhuta Ramayana, a text traditionally attributed to Maharishi Valmiki.

In this version, Sita is revealed to be Adi Shakti, the supreme feminine divine energy. After Lord Ram defeats Ravana, another far more powerful demon, Sahasra Ravana, described as the thousand-headed Ravana, appears and challenges him.

During the battle, Lord Ram is rendered unconscious. It is then that Sita transforms into the fierce form of Mahakali, also known as Bhadrakali, and defeats Sahasra Ravana herself. The episode highlights Sita's divine power and warrior spirit, offering a strikingly different interpretation from the more familiar narrative.

Another well-known mythological story from Sita's childhood also reflects her extraordinary strength.

According to legend, the young Sita was able to effortlessly lift Lord Shiva's Pinaka bow, a weapon considered too heavy for even the mightiest kings. Witnessing this remarkable feat, King Janaka is believed to have decided that only the man capable of lifting the bow would be worthy of marrying his daughter.

This legend eventually led to the famous Sita Swayamvar, where Lord Ram successfully lifted and broke the bow to win her hand in marriage.

Could the film be inspired by these ancient texts?

While the filmmakers have not officially explained the sword-and-shield sequence shown in the trailer, the scene appears to draw inspiration from these lesser-known mythological traditions, especially the Adbhuta Ramayana.

If that is the case, the film may explore Sita not only as a devoted queen but also as a manifestation of divine strength and courage.

The brief glimpse has already sparked discussions among mythology enthusiasts and movie lovers, many of whom are eager to see how the film interprets this lesser-known aspect of Sita's character.

India's biggest film project

Nitesh Tiwari's Ramayana unveiled its first trailer during the auspicious Brahma Muhurat at 4:15 am on July 30. The film is being promoted as one of the most ambitious cinematic adaptations of the epic ever made.

Reportedly mounted on a budget of Rs 4,000 crore, the two-part film features large-scale battle sequences, advanced visual effects and has been specially shot for the IMAX format.

Produced by Namit Malhotra and co-produced by Yash, the project is also being described as the most expensive film in the history of Indian cinema. With anticipation continuing to build, fans are now waiting to see whether the final film explores the powerful, lesser-known stories surrounding Sita from ancient Hindu traditions.

Isha in a span of days posted a thread of emotional messages on Instagram fueling separation rumours among fans. While the initial post talked about storms having a lesson, the latest post about fighting battles that leave invisible scars and living in fear of her husband's power and influence has fueled the speculations.

‘Remained silent because’

In an Instagram post on Monday, Isha wrote: “There are battles that leave no visible scars. For a long time, I remained silent because I was afraid. I felt overwhelmed by the influence, power, and resources I believed my husband had, and I convinced myself that staying quiet was the safest thing to do.”

“Silence was never acceptance. It was survival. Today, I'm choosing courage over fear. I may not be ready to tell the whole story, but I'm finally ready to stop pretending that everything was okay,” it further read.

The latest Instagram post was shared days after the actress shared amontage of pictures and videos featuring herself and Badshah with a cryptic caption saying, “Every storm is a lesson. Every prayer is hope”, which initially sparked speculation of their separation.

About Isha Rikhi and Badshah

Rumours about rapper Badshah and actress Isha Rikhi getting married first surfaced on March 24 after Isha's mother, Poonam Rikhi, shared photos and videos on social media. The posts appeared to show a small wedding ceremony attended only by close family members and friends.

The speculation grew stronger when Badshah shared a cryptic post on social media. He posted several pictures with a mystery woman whose face was hidden in every photo. He captioned the post, "Universe has a strange way of putting people in your life," further fueling rumours.

Badshah separated from his first wife, Jasmine Masih, in 2020. The former couple has a daughter, Jessemy Grace Masih Singh, and they continue to co-parent her.

Anmol, who lives in Haryana, said his nearly Rs 1.55 crore Land Rover Defender 110, purchased around eight months ago, suddenly stopped while he was travelling. According to him, the vehicle was taken to the company’s service centre, where he was told that its fuel pump had failed allegedly because of poor-quality fuel. The singer has now urged authorities to make public a list of fuel stations where premium petrol such as XP95 and XP100 is available.

In a video circulating on social media, Anmol said his Defender was relatively new and had undergone only one service when it stopped unexpectedly while he was on the road.

He said he contacted the company after the incident and was advised to get the vehicle inspected. After the SUV reached the authorised service centre, he was reportedly informed that the fuel pump had failed and needed to be replaced. According to Anmol, the service centre attributed the failure to “bad fuel”.

The singer said he had been using XP95 high-octane petrol for around 70% of the fuel filled in the vehicle. Following the fuel-pump failure, he said he stopped using regular petrol.

‘XP95, XP100 not easily available’

Anmol said he subsequently faced another problem while searching for premium petrol. According to him, he visited several fuel stations looking for XP95 or XP100 but could not find either product. He said that even after visiting six or seven petrol pumps, he was unable to locate the fuel he wanted.

He appealed to the government to publish an updated list of petrol pumps where premium fuel is available.

“People should know where they can get good-quality fuel,” he said, while also claiming that the issue may not be limited to his vehicle.

What happened to the Defender?

According to information, the vehicle broke down on May 27, 2026, while Anmol and his team were travelling for a show.

The Defender reportedly stopped suddenly during the journey. After contacting the company, Anmol was advised not to restart the vehicle for about an hour.

The SUV was subsequently taken to an agency in Chandigarh for inspection. The fuel pump was found to be faulty and was later replaced.

A few days ago, Anmol was travelling from Chandigarh to Delhi with his team to support and provide services to students holding a protest at Jantar Mantar. During the journey, he reportedly stopped at around five petrol pumps while looking for XP100 premium petrol. However, he said the fuel was unavailable.

After facing difficulty finding premium petrol, Anmol recorded the video in which he raised concerns about the availability of high-octane fuel.

The singer has appealed to the government and authorities concerned to make information about premium fuel availability easily accessible.

He said a publicly available list of petrol stations selling XP95 and XP100 would help motorists avoid unnecessary searches and plan their journeys more easily.

Anmol also asked other vehicle owners who may have experienced similar fuel-related problems to share their experiences.

The incident comes at a time when E20 petrol has become a subject of intense discussion among vehicle owners in India. Claims about lower mileage, engine-related problems and higher maintenance expenses have been circulating widely.

However, Anmol’s claim about the fuel pump failure is his account of what he was told at the service centre and does not, by itself, establish that E20 petrol caused the failure. The exact cause of the mechanical problem would require confirmation from the vehicle manufacturer, service centre and relevant technical records.

For motorists, the availability of premium fuel remains a separate concern, particularly for those who prefer higher-octane petrol for vehicles that recommend or benefit from it.

Ayesha says she was detained without protesting

In one of the videos, Ayesha said she was standing peacefully on the road and had not even started protesting when the police detained her along with her female friends. According to the actress, she had neither raised slogans nor created any disturbance before being taken into custody.

A friend seen in the same video claimed he had a mathematics practical examination scheduled for the day and alleged that he was also detained without any reason.

Another video circulating on social media appears to show women police personnel escorting Ayesha Khan into a police van. The actress can be seen questioning the officers and asking where they were being taken.

She repeatedly asked the police to inform them of their destination so they could update their families. However, no response from the officers is heard in the video.

Actress says she was taken to Worli Police Station

In a separate video, Ayesha revealed that she was at Worli Police Station after being detained. She said she had reached Dadar at around 4 pm to participate in the students' protest. According to her, police officers informed the group that they were not allowed to protest at the location.

Ayesha claimed she asked the officers about an alternative place where the protest could be held. She further alleged that soon after the conversation, police pulled her brother and friends before taking the entire group in a police vehicle to the police station.

The actress's videos have triggered discussions across social media, with many users reacting to the incident. However, Mumbai Police has not yet issued an official statement responding to Ayesha Khan's allegations at the time of publishing this report.

Arijit Singh is among several prominent personalities who have backed the students' protest. Veteran actor Shabana Azmi and actor Prakash Raj reportedly joined the protest march, while filmmaker Anurag Kashyap, actor Zeenat Aman, filmmaker Kiran Rao, actors Bhumi Pednekar and Huma Qureshi, along with singer Diljit Dosanjh, expressed support for the students through social media posts.

The protest over the NEET examination controversy continues to draw attention, with students demanding greater transparency and accountability in the country's examination system.
