Speculation around Diljit Dosanjh entering politics intensified after Jaago Punjab Manch — a group of civil society members that includes retired Army personnel and people from different professions — published a full-page advertisement in a leading English newspaper urging him to join politics. The group appealed to Diljit to “seize the moment” and step into public life, making it one of the rare public calls by a social organisation asking a singer to enter politics.

At the same time, a new video from Diljit’s concert in Calgary surfaced ahead of his Winnipeg show in Canada, where he spoke about facing criticism from both sides amid protests by pro-Khalistan supporters. Addressing the audience, he said that people in India call him “Khalistani,” while some pro-Khalistan supporters abroad call him “India wala.” He added that although he feels caught in between, he believes he is following the right path.

The tensions reportedly increased after Diljit criticised people waving Khalistan flags during his Aura 2026 concert in Calgary on May 1.

During his Winnipeg concert, only a small group of around four pro-Khalistan supporters protested against him, but they did not receive wider support from the audience.

In a long social media post, Celina shared a video where she is seen visiting the grave of her late son Shamsher. The actor is visibly emotional in the clip, breaking down as she cleans the grave. She said she had no choice but to make the video public to express her pain as a mother.

Celina revealed that she had travelled to Austria for a divorce hearing, hoping to meet her children. However, she alleged that despite court assurances, her children were moved to an undisclosed location and not brought back to her. She said she has currently been denied communication with her three surviving children.

Calling the past few weeks the “most difficult” of her life, Celina spoke about her journey as a wife and mother. She said she left her career and home in India and moved across countries like Dubai, Singapore and Austria to support her husband’s work. She also claimed she raised her children largely on her own while standing by her husband’s ambitions.

The actor further alleged that during the separation process, she faced unreasonable demands related to her premarital assets. She claimed that despite seeking an amicable settlement, her efforts were not met positively.

Celina also accused interference in her relationship with her children. She alleged that there has been an attempt to influence them against her and restrict regular communication.

Sharing how the divorce process began, Celina said she was unexpectedly served divorce papers in September last year under the pretext of collecting an anniversary gift.

Celina and Peter married in 2010 and are parents to four sons, including two sets of twins. One of their sons, Shamsher, passed away in 2017 due to a heart condition.

The actor ended her note by saying she is still trying to prioritise her children’s well-being and is seeking dignity and fairness during the separation.

Soon after the BJP's decisive victory in Bengal, Agnihotri took to his social media and posted a celebratory message, calling it a key moment of transformation. Referring to Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, he alleged that she had banned The Bengal Files. At the same time, those involved in the film's release said efforts were being made to screen it not only in Kolkata but also in theatres across the state.

In his post on X, Agnihotri wrote, 'Our trailer launch was blocked. We were attacked and assaulted. Dozens of FIRs were filed against me. I was cancelled in Bengal. I couldn't even go to receive my award from the governor. But we never gave up. During these elections, we ensured the film was somehow shown to as many people as possible across Bengal. I am glad we didn't give up and fought in our own little way.'

According to the reports, Priya Cinemas' Arijit Dutta, who will release the film on Friday, said, 'A censored film didn't get released in Bengal because of a party diktat. Not a single theatre could screen it while the rest of India watched it. There was so much curiosity about the film. I am glad Bengal will finally get to watch it.'

With the film now scheduled to open in the state on Friday, The Bengal Files is set to be screened in Kolkata after months of controversy over its release in West Bengal.

A video from his recent show in Calgary surfaced online a day before his concert in Winnipeg. During the concert, Diljit spoke about the backlash he has been receiving from different groups.

He told the audience that in India some people call him a Khalistani, while certain groups in Canada label him as “India Wala”. He added that he often feels confused about where he belongs, but believes he is following the right path.

The controversy appears to have intensified after Diljit reacted to pro-Khalistan supporters waving flags during his Aura 2026 concert in Calgary on Friday. Several videos shared on social media showed heated arguments between protesters and people attending the show.

Addressing the crowd during the concert, the singer said people could continue showing flags, but warned that anyone creating disturbance inside the venue would be removed. His remarks received loud cheers from the audience.

After the concert, Gurpatwant Singh Pannun released a video saying that Sikhs for Justice would oppose Diljit’s upcoming concerts in the United States.

Following the statement, some pro-Khalistan supporters called for a boycott of the singer’s shows and announced plans to stage protests outside concert venues.

Meanwhile, Canadian Security Intelligence Service, in a public report released on Friday, described a small but active network of Khalistani extremist groups in Canada as a continuing national security concern.

The report said some individuals linked to these networks were allegedly involved in collecting and diverting funds to support violent activities in India. It also noted that a fringe section continued to use Canadian soil to promote, finance and plan violence.

Bhooth Bangla marks Priyadarshan's return to Hindi cinema after five years, and his first film with Akshay Kumar since 2011. The ensemble cast featuring Tabu, Paresh Rawal, Wamiqa Gabbi, Rajpal Yadav and Mithila Palkar, has been widely praised for keeping the comedy sharp and the scares entertaining. The overseas performance, while modest at $5.6 million, has already flattened out with daily earnings dipping below $80K, making a $6 million finish the realistic ceiling abroad.

The actor visited the NCW office on Monday after being summoned over allegations that the song contained objectionable and suggestive content. He was accompanied by his legal representative during the appearance.

According to reports, Sanjay Dutt told the commission that he was not aware of the exact wording of the song at the time of recording. However, he expressed regret and apologised out of respect for women and the commission. His lawyer also stated that the actor has voluntarily offered to sponsor the education of 50 children from tribal communities.

The controversy began soon after the release of the song, which features Nora Fatehi alongside Sanjay Dutt. The track drew criticism on social media for its lyrics and dance moves, with many calling it inappropriate and offensive.

Taking note of the issue, the NCW had earlier said that the content appeared to be sexually suggestive and potentially in violation of legal provisions. The commission acted on its own and issued notices to those associated with the song.

Amid the backlash, the song’s lyrical video was later removed from YouTube across multiple languages by its music partner. Nora Fatehi had also responded publicly, stating that she does not support such content and welcomed the decision to take it down.

The film, directed by Prem, is a pan-India project and had generated buzz ahead of its release. However, the controversy around the song has now brought it under scrutiny.

The matter is still under review, and further action, if any, will depend on the findings of the commission.

The 34-second teaser opens with a striking visual of a masked man pointing a gun at Mansa district on a map of Punjab. It then shows Moosewala driving a jeep and firing an AK-style rifle, while a group of people appears to be trying to block his path. A brief line in the teaser, loosely translated as “the black cat boy will get you shot, adds to the intense and mysterious tone. Observers believe the song may draw references to the circumstances surrounding his killing and earlier alleged conspiracies.

Since his death, Moosewala’s team has continued to release his unreleased work, with nearly 12 tracks already out. These songs have received strong global response. His previous release, “B-Town”, also gained massive engagement online, becoming one of the most-commented music videos worldwide.

The team is now preparing for a global tour titled “Signed to God”, which is expected to use advanced hologram (3D projection) technology. This would allow fans to experience a virtual stage presence of the late singer during live performances. The tour is likely to cover multiple countries, including India, Pakistan, the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, the UAE, Australia and New Zealand.

Sidhu Moosewala, whose real name was Shubhdeep Singh Sidhu, was shot dead on May 29, 2022, at Jawaharke village of Mansa district. Though he is no longer alive, his music continues to resonate deeply with fans across the world, keeping his legacy alive.

Keeping the caption simple, they used only evil eye emojis. The post quickly went viral, with fans and well-wishers flooding the comments with congratulatory messages. Earlier, on September 8, 2024, the couple had announced the birth of their first child, a baby girl, through a heartfelt post that read, “Welcome baby girl. 8-9-2024. Deepika & Ranveer (sic).”

In a recent conversation with Maniesh Paul, Ali said his children were teased in school because of the characters he played on screen. He mentioned that while audiences loved his performances as Dadi and Nani, things became difficult for his family.

Ali recalled that he did not want his son to face embarrassing comments because of his on-screen image. He said it hurt him to think that his children might be targeted over his work.

The actor also spoke about feeling stuck in similar roles for a long time. He explained that during his stint on comedy shows, he was repeatedly asked to play female characters. Over time, this created a fixed image and writers continued offering him the same kind of roles.

Ali added that although the work was popular and earned him recognition, he wanted to try different characters. However, he had limited control over the kind of roles he was offered, as it was also his main source of income.

He eventually left The Kapil Sharma Show in 2017, citing creative differences.

Ali first gained recognition with the TV serial Kahaani Ghar Ghar Kii and later appeared in films like Partner, Tees Maar Khan, Judwaa 2 and Shehzada.

Speaking about it, Aditya Dhar said he was not sure about adding a lip-sync dance number in the film. But choreographer Vijay Ganguly convinced him to go ahead with it. That decision later turned out to be one of the highlights of the film.

Sharing pictures from the sets, Aditya praised Vijay for his work and called him an outstanding choreographer. He said Vijay understands music deeply and brings emotions to life through his choreography. He also mentioned that Vijay thinks like a director, which made things easier during filming.

Talking about the song, Aditya Dhar recalled that Vijay’s confidence gave both him and music composer Shashwat Sachdev the push they needed. Today, Shararat has become one of the most loved tracks from the film.

The song, sung by Madhubanti Bagchi and Jasmine Sandlas, features Ayesha Khan and Krystle D'Souza. It shows a wedding celebration of characters played by Ranveer Singh and Sara Ali Khan and its dance step has gone viral on social media.

Aditya also appreciated Vijay’s positive attitude, saying his energy and excitement kept the team motivated even during tough shoots.

Meanwhile, Dhurandhar, a two-part spy thriller, has been doing record business at the box office. The first part, released in December, earned over Rs 1300 crore worldwide. The second part, which hit theatres on March 19, has already crossed Rs 1700 crore globally within weeks. The film also stars Arjun Rampal, R Madhavan, Sanjay Dutt, Akshaye Khanna and Rakesh Bedi in key roles.

She passed away at the age of 92. Along with her sister Lata Mangeshkar, she became one of the defining voices of Hindi film music for nearly 70 years. While Lata became famous earlier, Asha soon made her own strong place with her bold style and amazing versatility.

Asha Bhosle, who passed away at Breach Candy Hospital, was known for both lively songs like “Aaja, Aaja” and emotional, classical songs like “Justuju Jiski Hai,” showing her wide range.

What made her special was not just her long career of over 80 years, but also her ability to keep changing with time. From old black-and-white films to modern global music stages, she stayed relevant by adapting her style.

Over the years, she sang for many generations of actresses—from Meena Kumari and Madhubala to Kajol and Urmila Matondkar—connecting the past with the present.

She was always seen in a sari, with a bindi and neatly tied hair. Even in her 80s, she stayed energetic, dancing to songs like “Ek Mein Aur Ek Tu” and even performing moves from Vicky Kaushal’s song “Tauba Tauba” at a Dubai concert in 2024.

With around 12,000 songs in Hindi and over 20 other languages, her career was truly remarkable and hard to fully capture in one go.

She was admitted to the hospital on late Saturday night after she suffered a cardiac arrest. Her health gradually deteriorated and she died after multi-organ failure. 

Asha Bhosle's demise was confirmed by her son Anand Bhosle. "My mother passed away today. People can pay their last respects to her at 11 am tomorrow at Casa Grande, Lower Parel, where she lived. Her last rites will be performed at 4 pm tomorrow at Shivaji Park," he said. 

Earlier, in an X post shared shortly after Bhosle's hospitalisation, her granddaughter, Zanai Bhosle, had written, "My grandmother, Asha Bhosle, due to extreme exhaustion and suffering a chest infection, has been admitted to hospital and we request you to value our privacy. Treatment is ongoing and hopefully everything will be well and we shall update you positively (sic)."

Born into music

Asha Bhosle was born on September 8, 1933, in Sangli, Maharashtra, to Deenanath Mangeshkar and his wife Shevanti. Her father, a classical singer and actor, passed away when she was just nine years old.

After his death, the family moved to Kolhapur and later to Mumbai. There, Asha and her elder sister Lata Mangeshkar began working in films as singers and actors. By 1943, Asha was already recording songs, including “Chala Chala Nav Bala” for the Marathi film Majha Bal. She made her Hindi film debut in 1948 with the song “Saawan Aaya” for Chunariya. Her first solo Hindi song came in 1949 for Raat Ki Rani.

Voice of Bollywood’s golden era

Asha Bhosle became one of the most iconic voices of Bollywood’s golden era (1950s–1970s), alongside legends like Mohammed Rafi, Kishore Kumar, Mukesh and Manna Dey.

She was known for her unique voice and incredible versatility, singing across many styles like film songs, pop, classical, bhajans, ghazals, folk, qawwali and Rabindra Sangeet. Over her lifetime, she recorded songs in more than 20 Indian and international languages. In 2006, she said she had recorded over 12,000 songs.

Top honours and achievements

Asha Bhosle received some of India’s highest honours for her contribution to music. She was awarded the Dadasaheb Phalke Award in 2000 and the Padma Vibhushan in 2008.

She also won two National Film Awards for Best Female Playback Singer—for “Dil Cheez Kya Hai” from Umrao Jaan (1981) and “Mera Kuch Samaan” from Ijaazat (1987)—along with many other popular awards. With a career spanning more than eight decades, she is widely regarded as one of the most influential voices in Indian music.

Sharing an update, her granddaughter Zanai Bhosle said that Asha Bhosle was hospitalised due to extreme exhaustion and a chest infection. She also requested privacy for the family, adding that treatment is ongoing and they hope for a positive update soon.

Amid this, Prime Minister Narendra Modi shared a note wishing for her speedy recovery.

Taking to the X handle, Prime Minister Narendra Modi wrote, "Deeply concerned to hear that Asha Bhosle Ji has been admitted to hospital. Praying for her good health and a speedy recovery."

According to hospital sources, Asha Bhosle was unconscious when she was brought in and is currently in the ICU under close medical supervision.

Asha Bhosle is one of the most celebrated singers in Indian music. Born on September 8, 1933, she started singing at a young age and went on to become one of the most recorded artists in the world. She has sung thousands of songs in languages like Hindi, Marathi, Bengali, and Gujarati. Known for her versatility, she has performed across genres including classical, ghazals, pop, cabaret, and folk. She is especially famous for her collaborations with music composer R. D. Burman, which produced many iconic songs.

What happened in Vrindavan?

The accident took place on Friday on the Yamuna River in Vrindavan, when a boat carrying mostly tourists from Punjab capsized. According to officials, the mishap resulted in the deaths of 10 people, while 22 others were injured and five remain missing.

Rescue teams worked for several hours to recover the overturned boat, which had become stuck in a deep, swampy area. Authorities confirmed that no bodies were found trapped beneath it. However, officials fear that some of the missing individuals may have drowned, and search operations are still ongoing.

The incident occurred near Kesi Ghat when the boat drifted into deeper waters and collided with a floating pontoon. Officials explained that a pontoon bridge in the area had recently been removed due to rising water levels, leaving behind pontoon drums in the river. It is believed that the boat struck one of these drums, leading to the tragedy.

Authorities reported that the injured are currently in stable condition. Post-mortem examinations of the deceased are nearly complete, and arrangements are being made to send the bodies back to their families. Earlier reports had confirmed six deaths, but four more bodies were later recovered, bringing the total death toll to 10.

CM Yogi Adityanath Offers Condolences

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath expressed deep sorrow over the incident, calling it extremely tragic and heartbreaking. He extended his condolences to the families of the victims and directed officials to carry out immediate rescue and relief operations.

He also emphasized the need for proper medical treatment for the injured and prayed for peace for the departed souls and strength for the grieving families.

Vijay Deverakonda expresses concerns about Jana Nayagan leak

Vijay concluded by extending his full support to the entire team behind the film.

Several other prominent figures also condemned the leak. Veteran actor Rajinikanth described the incident as shocking and painful, urging film associations to take a stand against piracy. Actors like Chiranjeevi, Kamal Haasan, and Sivakarthikeyan also voiced their concern over the issue.

Producers demands legal action

The makers of Jana Nayagan, led by KVN Productions LLP, have initiated legal proceedings against those behind the leak. In a firm statement, they warned that all digital activities are traceable and urged audiences not to watch or share the leaked content.

Jana Nayagan stars Tamil superstar Vijay and has generated significant buzz, especially as it is rumored to be his final film before fully stepping into politics. The film is directed by H. Vinoth and features a strong cast including Pooja Hegde, Bobby Deol, and Mamitha Baiju. Supporting roles are played by Gautham Vasudev Menon, Prakash Raj, Priyamani, and others.

Originally scheduled for release on January 9, 2026, the film has now been indefinitely delayed due to issues involving the Central Board of Film Certification.
