He captained Indian men's hockey team in 1992 Barcelona Olympics and 1996 Atlanta Olympics.

He had been serving as an SP with the Punjab Police before taking a plunge into politics. He was nominated to Jalandhar Cantt legislative seat as an SAD nominee, which he subsequently won defeating Jagbir Singh Brar of the Congress. However, he was suspended by the SAD in July 2016.

He along with Navjot Singh Sidhu and Bains brothers formed a new political front — Aawaaz-e-Punjab — claiming to fight against those working against Punjab. At present, he is general secretary of Hockey Punjab as nominated by the Punjab Chief Minister.

He also remained the Captain of the Indian Hockey Team and had been connected with the All India Railways; Punjab Police; Member of Subordinate Legislation and House Committee of the Punjab Vidhan Sabha. He also also held the post of Director, Sports, Punjab.

Currently, he is a member of the Committee on Privileges and Committee on Public Undertaking of the Punjab Vidhan Sabha (2018-19).

Kartarpur MLA Chaudhary Surinder Singh started his career as sarpanch of Dhaliwal village (Jalandhar) from 1980-1997. Later, he became Chairman of Panchayat Samiti (1994-1998), chairman of Market Committee (1996-1999) and Chairman of Zila Parishad (2003-2008), Jalandhar.

In the 2017 Punjab Assembly elections, he got elected from the Kartarpur constituency. He won with 6020 votes and became MLA.

He was born on April 2, 1974, in Bussowal. Navtej Singh Cheema is a member of the Punjab Legislative Assembly and the current MLA of Sultanpur Lodhi.

He was elected twice to the Punjab Vidhan Sabha in 2012 and again in 2017. He also won the 2017 assembly elections with a margin of 8162 votes.

He is presently serving as a member of the Committee on Petitions & Committee on Government Assurances of Punjab Vidhan Sabha (2018-19) and General Secretary of Punjab Congress Legislature Party.

He remained President of District Congress Committee, Kapurthala (Punjab) and member of Planning Board; Member, House Committee, Questions and Reference Committee of Punjab Vidhan Sabha (2017-18), and Chief Whip of Punjab Congress Legislature Party from 2015-2017.

Kapurthala MLA Rana Gurjit Singh was elected to the Punjab Vidhan Sabha thrice i.e. in 2002, 2012, and 2017. He also won the 2017 assembly elections with a margin of 28817 votes.
