Previously, the feature was being tested on the beta versions of the Android and iOS apps, as well as the Web interface. Now, it has been rolled out globally, providing users with the convenience of correcting mistakes without having to delete the entire message.

Mark Zuckerberg, the head of Meta, announced the introduction of the new feature on WhatsApp through a Facebook post. By allowing message editing, WhatsApp aims to save users' time by eliminating the need to rewrite the entire text. To edit a sent message, users need to long-press and hold the message, select the "edit" option from the menu, and make the necessary modifications.

It's important to note that edited messages will be labeled with an "edited" tag next to the timestamp, indicating that changes have been made. However, recipients won't have access to the editing history of the text. WhatsApp already provides the option to delete sent messages, but the ability to edit messages offers a more efficient solution for users.

In a blog post, the company stated that the update will be rolled out to all global users and can be used for correcting misspellings or adding additional context to a message. Furthermore, it reassured users that all edits made using the feature will be protected by end-to-end encryption, ensuring the privacy and security of their conversations.

This comes after Musk, who has served as CEO since his $44 billion buyout of Twitter last October, announced Yaccarino's appointment on Friday. It was the first time Yaccarino spoke publicly since the news broke on Thursday that she was in talks to become the next CEO of Twitter.

As advertising chief for Comcast Corp's NBCUniversal, Yaccarino spent several years modernizing its ad business. She said she is committed to Twitter's future and user feedback is vital to building "Twitter 2.0." Yaccarino will take over a social media platform that has been trying to reverse a plunge in ad revenue and is beset with challenges, along with a heavy debt load.

Since Musk acquired Twitter, advertisers have fled the platform, worried that their ads could appear next to inappropriate content after the company lost nearly 80% of staff. Musk earlier this year acknowledged that Twitter had suffered a massive decline in ad revenue. 

While Musk said Yaccarino would help build an "everything app" that could offer a variety of services such as peer-to-peer payments, his selection of an advertising veteran signaled that digital ads would continue to be a core focus of the business.

Musk, who is also the CEO of electric-vehicle maker Tesla Inc, on Friday said that bringing Yaccarino on as Twitter's new chief will help him devote more time to Tesla. Musk has long said he intended to find a new leader for Twitter.

In the week that followed the company's unveiling of a revamped search engine, the two added more than $18 billion to their combined wealth. According to the Bloomberg Billionaires Index, Page's net worth increased by $9.4 billion to $106.9 billion, while Brin's rose by $8.9 billion to $102.1 billion. This marks their biggest weekly gain since February 2021.

Google announced that it will begin experimenting with a more conversational search engine and has made its AI-powered chatbot available more broadly at its annual developer conference. This move is helping the company to assert dominance in an increasingly competitive field. The parent company, Alphabet Inc., saw shares rise almost 1 per cent in New York on Friday after surging 8.6 per cent in the two days through Thursday.

Page and Brin, who have been more involved in the company than they have been in years, are among the biggest gainers of 2023, adding more than $22 billion each to their wealth. They rank as the eighth- and ninth-richest people in the world, respectively.

Eric Schmidt, Google's former CEO, is also benefiting from the AI boom. He has invested in many startups in the field and has rejected public calls to slow down the speed of research, citing concerns over China's advances in tech. Most of his $23.6 billion fortune remains tied to Alphabet, where he is the third-largest individual shareholder. His net worth has gained $1.8 billion this week.

In summary, Google's co-founders and former CEO are seeing significant gains in their net worth due to the company's AI push, with Page and Brin adding more than $18 billion to their combined wealth in a single week. However, none disclose that they are populated using AI chatbots such as OpenAI's ChatGPT and Google's Bard, which can generate detailed text based on simple user prompts. The majority of the websites are content farms that produce low-quality content to bring in advertising. The websites are based all over the world and are published in several languages, including English, Portuguese, Tagalog, and Thai, NewsGuard said in its report.

Several instances documented by NewsGuard showed that the chatbots generated falsehoods for published pieces. For example, in April alone, CelebritiesDeaths.com published an article titled "Biden dead. Harris acting President, address 9 a.m."

Another site called TNewsNetwork published an unverified story about the deaths of thousands of soldiers in the Russia-Ukraine war, based on a YouTube video. The concerns are particularly challenging for Google, whose AI chatbot Bard may have been utilised by the sites, and whose advertising technology generates revenue for half.

The report suggests that companies like OpenAI and Google should take care to train their models not to fabricate news. "Using AI models known for making up facts to produce what only look like news websites is fraud masquerading as journalism," said NewsGuard co-Chief Executive Officer Gordon Crovitz. OpenAI didn't immediately respond to a request for comment, but has previously stated that it uses a mix of human reviewers and automated systems to identify and enforce against the misuse of its model, including issuing warnings or, in severe cases, banning users.

The actors pushing this brand of fraud "are going to keep experimenting to find what's effective," according to Noah Giansiracusa, an associate professor of data science and mathematics at Bentley University. "As more newsrooms start leaning into AI and automating more, and the content mills are automating more, the top and the bottom are going to meet in the middle" to create an online information ecosystem with vastly lower quality.

NewsGuard researchers used keyword searches for phrases commonly produced by AI chatbots, such as "as an AI large language model" and "my cutoff date in September 2021," to find the sites. The researchers ran the searches on tools like the Facebook-owned social media analysis platform CrowdTangle and the media monitoring platform Meltwater. They also evaluated the articles using the AI text classifier GPTZero, which determines whether certain passages are likely to be written entirely by AI.

Google said that the presence of AI-generated content is not inherently a violation of its ad policies but that it evaluates content against their existing publisher policies. The company regularly monitors abuse trends within its ads ecosystem and adjusts its policies and enforcement systems accordingly.

The two retail stores are seen as a sign of Apple's commitment to India, which is the world's second-biggest smartphone market.

At the store opening, Tim Cook welcomed customers and said, "We are incredibly excited to be here and can't wait to connect with our customers and introduce them to our latest products."

The store, designed by Apple's chief design officer Jony Ive, has a grand staircase and a boardroom for customers to attend Today at Apple sessions.

The tech giant is also launching special iPhone 12 series mannequins and Apple Watch bands in India.

This move highlights the tech giant's ambitions for India, both as a growth market and a manufacturing base. The two stores that will be opened are located in Mumbai and New Delhi respectively, and will be opened on April 18 and 20.

This visit marks seven years since Cook's first trip to India, making it a special occasion for Apple as the sales of iPhones in India have hit an all-time high and exports from the country have reached billions of dollars. Furthermore, Apple is looking to diversify its assembly operations from China and expand into India, due to the current strained relations between Beijing and Washington.

The Mumbai store will be located in the upscale Bandra Kurla Complex, and the New Delhi store will be in the Saket neighborhood. In order to open the stores, Apple had to comply with India's strict rules which require global brands to source a significant portion of their goods from within the country. Apple also opened an online store in India in 2020.

Furthermore, Cook is trying to arrange a meeting with Prime Minister Narendra Modi, as his government has offered generous incentives to attract Apple's manufacturing partners such as Foxconn Technology Group and Pegatron Corp. During an earnings call, Cook expressed his optimism for the Indian market and noted that the company had achieved record quarter revenue and double digit growth year-on-year.

Among the top five PC vendors, Apple's shipments dropped the most, with Lenovo, HP, Dell Technologies, and Asus experiencing a 30 per cent, 24 per cent, 31 per cent, and 30 per cent drop, respectively. Worldwide, PC shipments dropped by 29.0 per cent compared to the same quarter of 2022, reaching 56.9 million.

IDC believes that the PC market will suffer in the short-term but may see a return to growth by the end of the year if the global economy improves. Linn Huang, Research Vice President at IDC, stated that if the recession persists into the next year, recovery could be a slow process.

"If recession in key markets drags on into next year, recovery could be a slog," said Linn Huang, research vice president, Devices and Displays at IDC. 

Chief Minister, Chief Minister Bommai tweeted, "Apple phones to be built in the state soon. Apart from creating about 1 lakh jobs, it will create a whole lot of opportunities for Karnataka. Under the visionary leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi Ji, we will do our share to make India a 5 trillion dollar economy by 2025.”

Chief Minister also a post from Rajeev Chandrashekar, the Union Minister of State for Skill Development and Entrepreneurship and Electronics and Information Technology.

Quoting a media report, Rajiv Chandrashekar said, "Apple phones to be built in India in a new 300 acre factory in Karnataka. Double engine Sarkar of PM Narendra Modi Ji and CM Basavaraj Bommai working to create investments and jobs and a 1 trillion dollar economy for Karnataka."

On the outskirts of Bengaluru, Foxconn has been provided land. It is one of the leading manufacturer of iPhones. The 300-acre campus is said to be one of the largest manufacturing units for Apple phones.

There is a 17-member of delegation of Foxconn management led by chairman Young Liu visited the campus on Friday. "Bengaluru was the preferred destination for global companies and had been a forerunner in attracting investment,” Foxconn chairman Young Liu said.

The delegation would fly to New Delhi to meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi in the evening, officials said.  Foxconn, which stands second globally in manufacturing Apple phones, posted an income of 206 billion dollars in 2021. The company has manufacturing units in several countries including China, India, Japan, Vietnam, Malaysia, the Czech Republic and the US.

Now, according to reports, that’s about to change. WhatsApp is reportedly working on a feature that will allow users to edit sent messages within 15 minutes of sending them.

The new feature, which is being tested on the beta version of the app, will give users the chance to fix typos or add more information to their messages.

 After 15 minutes, users will no longer be able to edit their messages. The new feature is likely to be welcomed by WhatsApp users, as it will allow them to quickly fix any mistakes they may have made in their messages. It also means that users won’t have to delete messages and re-send them with corrections. 

However, it’s important to note that the feature is still in the testing phase and may not be available to all users. WhatsApp is yet to officially announce the feature and it’s unclear when it will be released to the public. 

Regardless, it looks like WhatsApp users will soon have the ability to quickly fix any errors they make in their messages. It’s a feature that has been long overdue and it will be welcomed by users who want to ensure that their messages are accurate and up-to-date.

There is a GIF that flooded Google shows Bard answering the question, “What new discoveries from the James Webb Space Telescope can I tell my 9 year old about?” Bard offers three bullet points in return, including one that states that the telescope “took the very first pictures of a planet outside of our own solar system.”

There are a number of astronomers on Twitter pointed out that this is incorrect and that the first image of an exoplanet was taken in 2004 — as stated here on NASA’s website.

“Not to be a ~well, actually~ jerk, and I’m sure Bard will be impressive, but for the record: JWST did not take ‘the very first image of a planet outside our solar system,’” tweeted astrophysicist Grant Tremblay.

Director of University of California Observatories at UC Santa Cruz, Bruce Macintosh later pointed out the mistake and tweeted that  “Speaking as someone who imaged an exoplanet 14 years before JWST was launched, it feels like you should find a better example?”

In a follow-up tweet, Tremblay added, “I do love and appreciate that one of the most powerful companies on the planet is using a JWST search to advertise their LLM. Awesome! But ChatGPT etc., while spooky impressive, are often *very confidently* wrong. Will be interesting to see a future where LLMs self error check.”

After it made the factual error in first demo, a Google spokesperson said, “This highlights the importance of a rigorous testing process, something that we’re kicking off this week with our Trusted Tester program. We’ll combine external feedback with our own internal testing to make sure Bard’s responses meet a high bar for quality, safety and groundedness in real-world information.”
