The incident took place at Mallipasi village, where 42-year-old Jeetu Munda had been trying to withdraw around Rs 19,300 from his sister Kakra Munda’s bank account. According to reports, she had passed away two months ago.

Jeetu visited the bank multiple times but was unable to complete the withdrawal process. Bank officials reportedly asked him to either present the account holder in person or provide valid legal heir documents.

Unable to arrange the required paperwork, Jeetu exhumed his sister’s remains, wrapped them in cloth and brought them to the Odisha Grameen Bank branch. He believed this would help him meet the bank’s requirement and access the money.

The song carries hard-hitting lyrics centred on violence, fear, and betrayal, with lines like “Tenu kise nu nahi bachauna, sun le meri gall” and “Chamber vich goli rakh, mahol kharaab hai.” It also includes references such as “Death da messenger WhatsApp ban janda hai,” depicting a tense and threatening environment. One line describes Moosewala as “death for antis,” reinforcing his larger-than-life image, along with mentions of weapons, explosives, and the need for bulletproof protection.

The video ends on an emotional note, showing Moosewala leaving his ‘haveli’ in a jeep, while his father Balkaur Singh waves goodbye.

Moosewala, a resident of Moosa village in Mansa district, was shot dead in Jawaharke village on May 29, 2022, at the age of 28. He had also contested the 2022 Assembly elections from Mansa on a Indian National Congress ticket but was unsuccessful.

His hologram-based global tour, titled Signed to God World Tour, is expected to begin soon. Local authorities, including the Woodstock Police Service, have taken note of the matter and are currently reviewing the case.

Members of the community have condemned the incident, saying such behaviour goes against the values of an inclusive society. Many social media users also pointed out that the issue extends beyond one community, describing it as a broader human concern.

The development comes amid growing attention on anti-Sikh discrimination in the country. According to findings based on a survey of over 1,600 Sikh Canadians, nearly 80 per cent of respondents believe anti-Sikh hate has increased in recent years, while around 65 per cent said they have faced verbal harassment. The report points to racism, xenophobia and misinformation as major factors behind such incidents.

Indian passport holders travelling to a third country via France will no longer require an airport transit visa, as long as they remain within the airport’s international transit zone and do not enter French territory, the French embassy said on Thursday. The move is intended to make travel easier for Indian passengers using French airports as transit points.

The change was introduced through a decree revising earlier visa regulations related to the entry of foreign nationals into France. The updated rules were published in the Official Gazette on April 9 and came into effect the following day.

India welcomed the decision, noting that it aligns with discussions held between the two countries earlier this year. The Ministry of External Affairs said it “welcomes the announcement of visa-free transit of Indian nationals in French airports,” adding that the move had been agreed upon during a meeting between the two sides’ leaders in February. It also clarified that Indian travellers passing through mainland France will no longer need a transit visa.

The relaxation removes an extra layer of paperwork for Indian passengers, who previously had to obtain an airport transit visa even for brief layovers without leaving the airport.

However, travellers will still need a valid visa if they intend to exit the airport or stay in France. The move is part of France’s broader efforts to strengthen travel and people-to-people ties with India.

According to eyewitnesses, the monkey entered the hospital premises and began moving freely across different wards. What has changed

Once you approve an automatic payment for the first time, future payments within Rs 15,000 can be deducted without fresh authentication each month. This applies to common expenses like subscriptions, SIP instalments, maintenance charges, broadband bills and other utilities. Earlier, many payments failed if users missed the OTP. This change is expected to reduce such issues.

Why this is important

Recurring payments often fail for simple reasons; OTP delays, poor network or users missing the message while travelling or asleep.

Such failures can lead to interrupted subscriptions, Missed SIP dates, delayed insurance payments and credit card penalties.  The new rule aims to reduce these problems and make payments smoother.

First approval is still required

Users will still have full control. The first time you set up auto-pay, you must approve it using OTP or another authentication method. Only after this approval will future payments be processed automatically within the allowed limit.

Higher limit for some payments

The RBI has also set a higher limit of Rs 1 lakh for certain categories, including insurance premiums, mutual fund investments and credit card bill payments. This will help users who make large recurring payments avoid repeated authentication issues.

Alerts will continue

Even though OTP may not be required every time, users will still receive alerts. Banks must send a pre-debit notification with details like amount, merchant name, and payment date. A confirmation message will also be sent after the payment is completed.

Time to review auto-pay settings

With auto-pay becoming easier, it is a good idea to review all active mandates linked to your bank account, card, or UPI apps. Many people unknowingly pay for unused subscriptions, duplicate services  or old memberships.

The RBI’s move is aimed at making genuine recurring payments hassle-free while keeping safeguards in place. For users, it means fewer failed transactions, fewer OTP issues, and less stress in managing monthly payments.

Baldev Singh, inspired by late Fauja Singh is running the marathon to raise money for the Fauja Singh Clubhouse being built on the Redbridge in Fauja Singh's memory. This is the same route that Fauj Singh used to run. 

Fauja Singh died last year in July after he was hit by a car in his native village Beas Pind at the age of 114. 

Regarded as the oldest marathon runner, Fauja Singh began running at the age of 89 after losing his wife and son in an accident. He turned to running as a way to cope with grief and loneliness. Starting with the London Marathon in 2000, he went on to participate in 18 marathons. He retired after completing his final three races in Toronto (2011), London (2012), and Hong Kong (2013).

Baldev knew Fauja as they lived in the same London borough, Redbridge, and went to the same gurdwara.

“When Fauja improved his running, I decided I wanted to improve my health. Fauja told me to start walking, and then running, and to change my diet and think positively,” Baldev said. 

Baldev hired Fauja’s coach, Harmander Singh, last year to train him, and he is also part of the Sikhs in the City running club where Fauja used to train.

Harmander, who is 66, is also taking part in the London Marathon to raise money for a clubhouse that will cost £1 million. The project received planning approval on April 1, which would have been Fauja’s 115th birthday.
