SAD asks Punjab govt to give Rs one crore compensation and one govt job to families of Punjabis killed by ISIS in Iraq

The Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) Today asked the Congress government to give a compensation of Rs one crore each and a government job to the next of kin of all Punjabis who were killed by the ISIS in Iraq. SAD asks Punjab govt to give Rs one crore compensation and one govt job to families of Punjabis killed by ISIS in Iraq In a statement here, former minister and SAD spokesman Bikram Singh Majithia said it was the responsibility of the Punjab government to provide succour to the affected families. “These families have suffered for four years before they found closure after the last remains of their near and dear ones were unearthed in Iraq. The SAD- BJP government headed by S Parkash Singh Badal started a pension of Rs 20,000 per month to the affected families. Now that it has come to light that they are no more the Punjab government should fulfil its responsibility towards the families”. Mr Majithia said earlier also in the case of Sarabjit Singh, who was hanged to death in Pakistan, a precedent had been established with the SAD- BJP government giving the family a compensation of Rs one crore besides two government jobs, including one of a Naib Tehsildar, to his two daughters. “The government should do the same now. However we don’t want to play any politics on this issue. The government can sit with the affected families and decide on the compensation as well as other benefits after mutual discussion”.
