SAD-BJP dharna against Congress
Chandigarh: Led by the Shiromani Akali Dal President Sukhbir Singh Badal and President of Punjab unit of Bharatiya Janta Party, Mr Vijay Sampla, thousands of workers and leaders of the SAD-BJP alliance organised protest dharnas against Congress misrule at all district headquarters throughout the State today. Braving heat, SAD-BJP leaders enthusiastically joined dharnas held outside offices of Deputy Commissioners all over the State to protest against failure of the Congress government in keeping its promises made to people of the State. Among major issues raised at these dharnas was increasing incidence of suicides by farmers following the failure of the Government to waive their loans. Failure of the government to provide one employment to each family was another issue highlighted by the protesters. They SAD-BJP workers were also demanding immediate end to incidence of sacrilege of Sri Guru Granth Sahib and also victimization of SAD-BJP workers. Deteriorating law and order situation in the State and failure of the Congress government to root out drug trade from the State within 40 days of coming to power were also highlighted during the dharnas.The Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee also supported the dharnas. —PTC News
