SAD-BJP urges Governor to direct CM to recommend dismissal of Sukhjinder Randhawa

Chandigarh: The Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) – Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Tuesday urged Punjab Governor V P Singh Badnore to direct chief minister Captain Amarinder Singh to recommend the dismissal of Jails minister Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa for allowing a free rein in gangsters in jail which had created havoc in the State besides giving patronage to notorious gangster Jaggu Bhagwanpuria who was involved in the murder of former Akali Sarpanch Dalbir Dhilwan.

The SAD-BJP delegation, which was led by SAD President Sukhbir Singh Badal and former BJP President Vijay Sampla, briefed the Governor about the increasing cases of gangster related crimes and said this was taking place due to the patronage of the Jails minister who was allowing gangsters to operate with impunity from jail. It urged the Governor to recommend a CBI inquiry into the gangster–Minister nexus. It also urged the Governor to send a report to the Home ministry on the total collapse of the law and order machinery in Punjab besides urging for justice to the aggrieved family of Dalbir Singh.

The delegation was accompanied by the family of Dalbir who was murdered brutally on November 18. The family members said they were not getting justice in the case with the police yet to record their statement. The family members, including the son and newly married daughter of Dalbir, also told the Governor how Sukhjinder Randhawa was threatening them into silence by stating that the murder of their father was a ‘mamooli ‘incident.

Speaking on the occasion, the SAD President told the Governor that gangsters seemed to have taken over the State and even showed him videos of notorious gangster Jaggu Bhagwanpuria celebrating his birthday in jail. He said the gangsters had become so bold that they had openly threatened former minister Bikram Majithia when he exposed the gangster- Minister nexus.

Mr Sukhbir Badal while speaking on the police role in the matter said it appeared that it was also under some pressure. He said the police did not register the statement of the victim family. “Later when SAD legislators met the State DGP to bring the threats received by Mr Majithia to his notice there was no apparent action. However within two hours IG Kunwar Vijay Partap Singh gave a statement to the media giving a clean chit to Jaggu Bhagwanpuria and said he could not have issued any threat to Mr Majithia”.

He said action should be taken against the IG, including immediate suspension, for indulging in unprofessional conduct by defending a gangster. He also brought it to the notice of the Governor that the IG was a close confidante of the Jails minister.

The SAD President also disclosed that there had been repeated cases of gangsters eliminating their rivals while sitting in jail and even taking credit for the same as had happened in the case of killings in Malerkotla and Malout recently. https://www.ptcnews.tv/captain-amarinder-singh-announces-free-police-help-to-drop-women-safely-home-at-night/
