SAD delegation meets PM Narendra Modi , Demands removal of Rajiv Gandhi’s name from Institutions, Awards and Public Schemes
A delegation of Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) under the leadership of party president Sukhbir Singh Badal met Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Delhi on Wednesday. The delegation appealed to PM Modi that former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi name should be removed from Institutions, awards and public schemes.

The delegation demand that the naming institutions cannot be accepted on the name of a person who led to the mass murder of Sikhs through his leaders Sajjan Kumar and Jagdish Tytler in 1984.

Keeping in view, the judgment given by Delhi HC against Sajjan Kumar and his aide, the delegation also demand to provide security to 1984 Sikh massacre eye witnesses.
Earlier, Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) leaders had also demanded a special sitting of Punjab assembly for revocation of former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi’s Bharat Ratna award.

Apart from Sukhbir Badal, the delegation comprised of Balwinder Singh Bhunder, Union Food & Processing minister Harsimrat Kaur Badal, MP Prem Singh Chandumajra , SGPC president Gobind Singh Longowal and former Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee chief Manjit Singh GK met PM Modi.

1984 Sikh massacre victims Jagdish Kaur , Jangsher Singh and Nirpreet kaur also accompanied the delegation.
