SAD demands a high level probe into corruption scam in Patiala Municipal Corporation
The Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) today demanded a high level probe into the ‘building notice racket’ in the Patiala Municipal Corporation, terming it a big scandal of corruption, where crores of rupees were being extorted by the MC officials by sending bogus notices to the owners of commercial buildings. Issuing a statement from the party headquarters on this serious financial embezzlement, Senior Vice president and spokesperson of the SAD, Dr. Daljit Singh Cheema said that a report on this scam by a leading English newspaper has exposed the corrupt practices of the congressmen. He said that the state government had brazenly misused the state machinery to secure 59 out 60 seats for the Congress councilors in the Patiala Municipal Corporation and had also appointed the mayor arbitrarily. “Now the CM should come clean on why the Congressmen were looting the people by indulging in corrupt practices on such a large scale” he added. He said that corruption was rampant everywhere in the state as it had crossed all limits during the Congress regime. “The million dollar question is that if the Congressmen don’t even hesitate to extort money from the people in the home town of the CM, who will protect them in other parts of the state?” he added. Dr. Cheema demanded that a stern action be taken against the culprits after holding a probe into this scam besides the money extorted from the people by the erring officials must be refunded immediately.
