SAD describes Cong election manifesto as launch of new project to cheat the people

SAD describes Cong election manifesto as launch of new project to cheat the people The Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) today described the Congress party’s election manifesto released by party president Rahul Gandhi as the launch of a new project to cheat the people in the same manner in which the Congress had committed thuggery on the people of Punjab two years back. Dr Cheema said Congress president Rahul Gandhi could promise the moon to the people but no one would believe him. “The track record of the Congress is there for everyone to see. It is because of this that the party as well as its President enjoys zero credibility. This is the reason why people want to shun the Congress party and re-elect the NDA under the leadership of Shri Narendra Modi”. If keeping your word is so important to you why didn’t you and your party honour the promises made to the people of Punjab through your 2017 election manifesto?” He said the manner in which the Congress party had run away from fulfilling its promises in Punjab was doubly disturbing because former PM Dr Manmohan Singh had given his stamp of approval to the manifesto and present day Punjab CM Capt Amarinder Singh had assured to implement it after taking a vow on the Gutka Sahib. “If the Congress could not keep its word in Punjab even after taking oaths on the Gutka Sahib, how can we expect it to keep its word through mere announcements made in Delhi today?” he asked. Asking Rahul Gandhi to introspect on the wrong doings of his party, Dr Cheema said farm suicides had crossed the 900 mark in Punjab due to the Congress government’s utter failure to implement the complete farm loan waiver promise. He said despite this Rahul had not found the time to visit the house of even one farm suicide victim. “This is not all”, the Akali leader said adding the youth had been befooled by promises of ghar ghar naukri, unemployment allowance and even smart phones. None of these promises have been kept”. He said all welfare schemes were stalled and that the situation was such that even poor children were denied winter uniforms despite the State receiving a central grant for the same”. Stating that Punjabis and people across the country would not be taken in by false promises, Dr Cheema asked Rahul Gandhi to explain why he had not introduced the minimum income guarantee scheme in any Congress ruled State till now. “Stop these gimmicks. The people have seen through the Congress party and will never trust them with their mandate again”, Dr Cheema added. - PTC NEWS
