SAD to observe Vishvasghat Divas on March 16 Chandigarh, March 13 – The Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) Working Committee today decided to observe Vishvasghat divas on March 16 across the State to protest against the manner in which the Congress party had betrayed each and every section of society by reneging on all the promises made to the people. The Working Committee meeting also decided to authorize party president Sukhbir Singh Badal to nominate party candidates for the forthcoming parliamentary election. He said the elections would witness the SAD sweeping the State and would pave the way for the assembly election victory in 2022. He also highlighted how justice was given to the Sikh community by Prime Minister Narendra Modi for forming a SIT to reopen 1984 genocide cases closed by the Congress government. He said this request, which had been made by the SAD, had led to life imprisonment of Sajjan Kumar. He also thanked the PM for taking special interest to establish the Kartarpur Corridor to facilitate Sikh pilgrims. Senior leader Balwinder Singh Bhundurs spoke at length on the politicization of the probe into the Kotkapura and Behbalkalan incidents by the Congress government which was condemned by the Working Committee in a formal resolution. He said the Congress party had first propped up the Ranjit Singh Commission to implicate the Akali leadership and when that failed it established an SIT for this purpose. He said the SIT was now being run by a single officer – IG Kunwar Vijay Pratap Singh who was following the dictates of Congress leaders and implementing the party’s vendetta politics. Earlier SAD Senior vice president Dr Daljit Singh Cheema read out resolutions which were unanimously passed by the Working Committee. The committee while condemning the Pulwana terrorist attack appreciated the decisiveness shown by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in ordering strike on the Jaish-e-Mohammad terrorist camp in Balakot. It said the Prime Minister also successfully isolated Pakistan internationally and this was the reason why it had to return Indian pilot Abhinandan back to India within 48 hours. The Working Committee simultaneously condemned Congress politicians including Kapil Sibal, Randeep Surjewala, Shashi Tharoor, Navjot Sidhu and rebel AAP leader Sukhpal Khaira for questioning the armed forces.
