SAD says Amritsar tragedy victims cheated in death; cheques bounced

SAD says Amritsar tragedy victims cheated in death; cheques bounced  The Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) today said the Amritsar Dussehra tragedy victims had been cheated even in death with the measly cheque amounts given to them starting to bounce even as  no FIR has been registered against the organisers of the event even twenty days after the man made tragedy. Lambasting the Sidhu couple including Local Bodies minister Navjot Sidhu and Dr Navjot Kaur for the fake concern shown by them over the plight of the victims, former chief parliamentary secretary Virsa Singh Valtoha said the couple’s seriousness could be seen from the fact that they could not even ensure timely payment of the measly cheque amount given to the victim families. “We condemn the inhuman treatment being meted out to victim families who are now suffering the agony of bounced compensation cheques”. The Akali leader also castigated the Congress government for failing to give justice to the victim families. He said it was astonishing and unheard that no FIR had been filed in the case even 20 days after the incident. “If the Congress government and the Sidhu couple are to be believed there is no one to blame. But the truth is that powerful people have got away despite indulging in criminal negligence”. Mr Valtoha said it was clear that the Sidhu couple had misused their power to suppress the truth and also protect the organisers of the event of which they were an intrinsic part. He said while first Navjot Sidhu indulged in a fake show of sympathy by participating in a candle light march, he was later seen laughing and guffawing during the march.
