Sajjan Kumar Convicted : Delhi HC Says , Sajjan Kumar enjoyed political patronage

Sajjan Kumar Convicted : Delhi HC Says , Sajjan Kumar enjoyed political patronage The Delhi High Court on Monday convicted congress leader Sajjan Kumar in the 1984 anti-Sikh riots case. The case pertains to killing of five Sikhs  Gurpreet Singh, Kehar Singh, Narender Pal Singh, Raghuvender Singh and Kuldeep Singh in Raj Nagar area of Delhi on November 1, 1984 after the assassination of then Prime Minister Indira Gandhi. Earlier, the trial court in 2013 had held Congress councillor Balwan Khokhar, retired naval officer Captain Bhagmal, Girdhari Lal and two others guilty in the case .However, the trial court in had acquitted Sajjan Kumar in the case. The Delhi High Court has asked Sajjan Kumar to surrender before December 31. The criminals escaped prosecution and punishment for over two decades. It took as many as ten Committees and Commissions for the investigation into the role of some of them to be entrusted in 2005 to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), 21 years after the occurrence.”, read the judgement.
