Agitating residents and students along with BKU Ugraha leaders on Tuesday locked the main gate of the school at Hathan village and started an indefinite protest in front of the school. They have demanded that the transfer orders of an economics lecturer should be canceled.  Students also sat on the road near their school to support the villagers in the protest.

Villagers have announced to intensify their agitation if the authorities failed to cancel the transfer. The posts of Principal, Art and Craft and Maths lecturers have been lying vacant. The transfer of an economics lecturer would further deepen the issue of shortage of lecturers in the government school.

The protestors demanded immediate filling of vacant posts. They also raised slogans against the Education Department. They also said that on one hand, the state government was making repeated claims of providing quality education in government schools. On the other hand, the government was transferring teachers without any valid reasons, putting lives of 550 students at stake.
