Sarwan Singh Phillaur Resigns From SAD, A Day After He Was Denied Ticket

Shiromani Akali Dal MLA from Kartarpur Mr Sarwan Singh Phillaur today resigned from the party. He was denied ticket in the list released by the party yesterday.

Mr Phillaur has submitted his resignation to Punjab Assembly Speaker Charanjit Singh Atwal.

He leveled several allegations against the party and said that his efforts were not recognized by the SAD.

Mr Phillaur’s son Damanvir Singh was allegedly involved in a multi-crore drug racket case and experts see it as one of the reasons behind the ticket denial. Though Mr Phillaur vehemently deny this. “I will open my cards at the right time”, he said.

He was in the Badal Cabinet as Jail Minister earlier. He was removed later after he and his son Damanvir Singh’s name allegedly came in a drug racket.
